I was curious about the title, I assume this is the source:
Hunter S Thompson wrote:The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason.

Who can say what Deep Throat (our secret source for titles) was thinking but I am familiar with a version of that quote that's about the music industry, which looks like it's a misquote. https://allanshowalter.com/2018/08/16/t ... -misquote/ I guess a similar sentiment applies to probably any "industry".

Turns out I'm in, even though I don't have a proper recording setup.

I tried an experiment I'd had in mind for a long time: trying to make the vocal part of the rhythm rather than the melody. It turns out there's a reason people don't usually do this; I ended up with a vocal that just seems like a boring melody. I'm sure someone has done this effectively, sometime, but that person isn't me.

I kind of thought about that. Perhaps I should have tried to rap it. I'm not much of a rapper, though.

It doesn't matter if you add enough bass.

To make that work, you have to be very, very good with rhythm and timing, and also need to inject enough energy into the vocal so that it sounds interesting even without a melody. Your vocals tend to sound rather laid back - that's even more difficult to make work if you're not "allowed" to add emphasis and movement via melody. Your performance - and the words - have to carry all of the weight.

My power went out twice this week and when I fired up my computer yesterday it wouldn’t boot up. After a forced power down and restart it still wouldn’t boot up. But then I unplugged it and let it sit for a few minutes, and that did the trick. With that said, I’m in with a late entry.

Brown Word is in. I wanted that sort of song you’d hear someone beating the shit out of a guitar downtown to. You know what I mean. Throw your spare change into my hat please.

So hilariously, I sent the wrong file the first time. Sent the right one after. Not sure who checks that! Anyway.
