Well I've got a bassline and a drum track and am trying out a new setting on my distortion pedal. Wife told me to write a song about getting shitfaced and playing Mike Tyson's Punchout and I like her idea so I'm gonna do it.

Sounds like my early twenties. I also have a video game related idea, not sure yet if I want to actually do it but we will see.

You want some bars? I've got space for them. Very sparse flow.

Title and challenge lend themselves to the faux irish bullshit I used to sling around here. If I wasn't exhausted from Spintunes I might join in. Maybe I will anyway.

I'm in, unusually early. Somebody suggested that I try to write a contemporary pop song. I tried, but I ended up with something rap-adjacent instead.

Well contemporary pop often IS pretty rap-adjacent to be fair.

I was trying to emulate Taylor Swift's "Out of the Woods." You'll see how not close I got.

I wrote a song. I recorded some tracks for the song. I haven't mixed the song (much.) I'll try to finish it up tonight.

In with a sloppy number. Did the old baritone doubles the bass line bit.

So glad to be part of this track! Getting drunk and playing Punch Out on the NES was totally part of college life for me lol

My original idea for this title was to make a song about Chun Li from Street Fighter and her "Spiked Punch", I've been wanting to use this little pocket synth licensed by Capcom that has loads of Street Fighter samples but unfortunately I was busy with something else called the Vocal Producer Challenge this weekend. With that said, I felt inspired last night and threw together a quick little track that is just a straight forward take on the title about going to a party and drinking the spiked punch, but the twist is it was spiked with bath salts!

In! With a little something I'm calling "Spiked Punch." It's not as list-like as the last song, but definitely delves into some other somewhat-redundant terms, from the POV of a somewhat unreasonable dude.

Street Fighter, Punch Out...both classic fighting games regardless! I actually played Street Fighter II Turbo Alpha way more than I ever did Punch Out, but most of that is probably due to year of birth!

This is one of the shorter entries I've submitted -- really the main part of it is only 32 bars but like you most of that was time constraints. Only in my case none of it had anything to do with other songwriting competitions and everything to do with a stupidly long workweek, multiple small children, and various projects around the house.

That and I recently discovered Stardew Valley and it's taking over my life.
