I figured out how to do xenharmonics in FL studio by using 2 virtual midi ports. Maybe I'll try some arabic scales, maqam bayati sounds fun.

I'm in with Part 3. More words I wasn't sure how to pronounce. At least it was proper names this time.

In with a follow-up to the last. Another chipper song about the cycles of generational rifts and natural resource extraction.

Critical Rave Theory preferred to die on this hill then to come up with a plausible new excuse for not submitting. So, please enjoy part 3 of our song cycle.

Wages is back for at least one entry! I meant to track this one out, but mistakes were made. Be gentle.

Well, no third part for me. I know, i know, it'll be ok. Music done, lyrics not, deadline missed. Happy fighting!

Re: Do really want (To Die On This Hill prefight)
In with installment #3 of the Friendly Town saga. Might do a short story or comic on this person's adventure - though it won't be as good as the Rambo series. I've greatly been enjoying this series of challenges. I kind of went all-out on this one after the reserved stuff I was doing for Nur Ein and the rushed SF submissions during that time. Mixing was extraordinarily difficult, because there's just so much going on in the song, crazy sounds clashing into and on top of one another (sort of purposefully sort of accidentally), and because we got a new AC that sounds like a jet taking off and I had to work around that, either mixing when it was off or - gasp - planning by cranking it down and cooling the house so as so have a broad window for working. Which for mixing is or isn't great, I have to do 20 minutes on 20 minutes off for mixing or my ear wears out. I might have to move back to my old room, which I don't really care to do. Anyway, I imagine I'll have feedback on the mix which is always welcome and greatly appreciated - I'm honestly trying to absorb the feedback, I just have a song-destroying inability to mix like I want to.

Re: Do really want (To Die On This Hill prefight)
I've either written part of a song or another short bit. But it's not recorded. I, unlike my esteemed colleague Paco, have no qualms about entering a song days after the deadline. So I *may* get something in.

FYI - lyrics have a cosy little thread all for themselves...WilliamParsons wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 4:48 amWilliam Parsons Project has thrown its hat in the ring on “To Die On This Hill” (Lyrics follow)
I see smoke on the horizon
And sharp reflected glances
Of a gleaming armored column
As it inexorably advances
The orders came down from high command
To hold the high ground as long as we can
To fight the good fight down to the very last man
To die on this hill Is life’s great reward
We lived by and now we will die by the sword
We’re losing this battle but winning the war
Our hearts beat with courage
without any sorrow
certain they will be beaten today
And won’t be beating tomorrow
I can smell tomorrow’s ashes
See the phosphor burning
Hear the blasts of mortar shells
Feel the tide of battle turning
We opened up at 500 yards
On the men caught on the wire
Bullets whistled overhead as the infantry returned fire
Our lives will buy the time
To turn this place to hell
Cut the lines, Bury mines
Poison the well
Leave behind no witnesses
At least none that can tell
The evil this army did before it fell
To die on this hill Is life’s great reward
We lived by and now we will die by the sword
We’re losing this battle but winning the war
Our hearts beat with courage
without any sorrow
certain they will be beaten today
And won’t be beating tomorrow
