I find myself anxtiously awaiting to hear the entries, like a kid on Christmas eve. I love hearing original music.

You could always go to somesongs in the meantime.

Plenty of new music, just not many listeners these days. I am admittedly part of that reviewing/listening problem.

*slaps own hand* BAD Glenn!

Just be sure to host your own songs if you decide to submit anything. That's how it works there.

ROCK!

Somesongs? Cool, I"ll check them out. I think I've been linked there from something posted here. It rings a bell.

Although it's unofficial, you could consider Somesongs to be a sister site to songfight.

It was started by a songfighter, and sometimes it can be a great place to get feedback.

There is also the benefit of being able to put up any songs up there. Not just the songfight stuff that has to be written to a title.

ROCK!

Good to know. I have some stuff at isounds and mygayz, but it's nice to have a place like SF and somesongs to get comments from other musicians. Plus I'm learning a ton about new school home studios.

My song was recorded in three different places, and you can tell!

Aw, CRAP! I thought that I might have a chance for victory this week up until now...

Have we ever actually competed in the same fight, Frankie? This might be a songfight first.

EDIT: Technically it's not a first. We squared off in the Please the Pig fight, and also the Bullseye Girl fight where I submitted as "Abbott Presley". There's also a couple of other times, but each of those was when I was involved in a collaboration of some sort.

However, this WILL be the first fight where we both created studio versions under our main names. My "Please the Pig" was live in Austin.

ROCK!

I've been slowly going through the archives and I haven't seen either of those two, "please the pig" and "target girl". I didn't get the name Abbot Presley until I played the song, LMAO!! Very good Glen, you're one clever sob. Also, Frankie's Bowie is right on the money.
Both of your title fights kicked ass by the way.

That's just Frank's voice, he's not doing an impression and he's not trying to ape any style or anything like that. Just FYI. He writes great stuff, and I don't want you to filter his songs through some kind of "he's doing a thing" thing.

Who is this to? If you're talking to me, I was serious. I love Frankie Big Face. Especially Crinkle Binkle.

Yeah, I've now gone directly to his past entries and I see that he is the real deal. Awesome writing and musicianship. But damn, there's no denying the early DB resemblance in the voice.

Yay, a whole new generation of "Frankie sounds like Bowie" people! I haven't seen any bitchy threads about that in a while.

Listen to his Last Date please.

You just don't like meeting new people.

Perhaps this is more appropriate for a pre-fight thread, but I feel compelled to frame the entry from Cranial Biffida before reviews occur. Having read reviews for the last couple of fights, it seems that most reviewers abhor any songs of length. This is likely due to the song content and completely understandable. I wanted to explain that it was necessary for our entry to be as long as it is. All the words needed to be spoken to build how morbid the gluttony had become. Thus the song length is a necessity and not up to any reasonable discretion. I don't know if this will change anyone's tolerance or attention span, and I completely understand that the track length is beyond the normal tolerances and thus will not be enjoyed by some. But we hope that people will attempt to discern the build and the story content. And that true morbid gluttony cannot be expressed with sudden gross vulgarity. In our humble opinion.

Take'er cheesy there fluffy. I can't stifle my feelings, and I would never ask you to. I know I'm new, but why is everyone getting so defensive? Before this takes a negative twist, let be explain that I consider Bowie to be a huge inspiration to my musical style. I my not sound like him, but still a hero none the less.
Now, I'd like to say that it is a blessing to be compared to a legend, not a curse. After the dust has cleared, it's still beautiful music.

Fluffy, will you ever forgive me for friend flooding on my first entry?
....oh, and using a drum machine on my SF entries. Image

I am not planing on reviewing this fight, so anyone doing reviews should not say anything about my song to be fair.

No worries, BLT. I take all comparisons to Bowie as a compliment. fluffy's probably reference to "bitchy threads" is probably more directed at me. There was a time when the only song comment I could get was "sounds like Bowie" and it started to drive me crazy. Plus, people making the insinuation that I was trying to sound like Bowie, which I never do. (If I'm trying to sound like anyone, it's probably Lennon, but only when I'm more or less directly stealing him, which is...well, quite frequent.

Glenn, fluffy, JB, Roger, Billy, Denyer--thanks for the warm welcome back. So much love in the room I had to check my URL. Maybe this is the beginning of a run of 20 or so FBF entries. Or maybe I just had a little extra free time this week. Who knows? But I appreciate the niceties. Hope you actually like my song!

Dear Billy,

Welcome to the Internet, where the way you read words is almost never the same way in which they were intended.

Love,
fluffy

P.S. You can pretty much assume that everything I write should be followed with :D :D ^_^
