And I'm Thinking About the Old Days
in ways that do not matter much
I clutch as such a mental crutch
still holding to the memory of your touch
yeah still holding to the memory of your touch

I want to thank you all for the constructive input I got from the last fight I entered, (Come Down Where You Ought To Be) I trust it will show; at least I have learned how to deal with the noise issue from my computer . If I get this song finished in time, I am definitely in. As far as using two names, I never was one of the "cool" kids, and I am much too old to be having those kinds of aspirations now.  I do appreciate the concern though, thanks...Larry.

The Hell Yeahs song for this fight is bubblin' in the lab right now.

It's a good thing I'm a dude, or the song would never get done.

Yeah, for sure, us chics... we can't keep anything straight. Boo!

Gosh, if I didn't marry a musician, my musical output would've been off the charts. Oi Hoi!

Yep, so looking forward to submitting a Hell Yeahs tune this week. It is my turn after all!

Go team Redmon!

Heather, did I ever tell you that you and Mr. Redmon should cover Chick Habit one of these days? If you guys put together a Hell Yeahs album someday, it would be a great addition, because surprisingly, no one has ever heard that song or pretty much anything by April March or the original by France Gall. I've used a couple of her songs in my surfing vids.

Anyone who has seen Grindhouse: Death Proof... knows that song. Also yes, reve, it is... see, there is a reason we both pee in the same pod... or we are peas from the same pod...

Yep, that's where I first heard it. Then after checking out her other music, I found the original from France Gall and couldn't help but notice how cool the bass and guitar sounded for an old school feel to my home vids. I also used a song called Poupee de cire poupee de son by France Gall. It's cool sounding, PLUS as a bonus, it sounds like she is saying poopy. :P

edit: Check it out here. Poop in your soul.

Plus it's by Serge Gainsbourg. And won Eurovision in 1965.

However, that (and the really dirty one about lollipops that Gainsbourg also wrote) are the only truly worthwhile things in her back catalogue.

Hey BLT! Phil and I checked out Chick Habit last night and we're totally down to do a cover of it sometime. You'll be the first to hear it! :)

Haha man, those jokes are fantastic, but not in a good way.

A nice history lesson though - I didn't know Rex Morgan MD had been around for that long - I think it's still syndicated to this day, isn't it? Either way, it's never been funny, as far as I can tell.

Cool Mommy-O. I knew you'd dig it. Can't wait to hear it.

@PlainSongs. I have old pics and vids that I've decided to start preserving before they're lost forever. Funny thing is, I've never been a pic or vid buff, but I seem to have a lot of cool pics and vids that are sitting in boxes, mostly taken by my fam and friends. I've put a couple of my motorcycle vids on youtube, but I haven't figured out how to do it and keep the quality good AND not freeze my computer by the time it's uploaded. Here's a quick minute and a half on the banshee. Notice the fucked up quality from the youtube upload. Very frustrating. My DVDs have to be broken up in pieces because they're too long. I have 5 or 6 incomplete vids that I'm still trying to make interesting with narration, music, etc. Mostly family vids. I also have old BLT shows of the past, mostly taken by other people and the quality is awful. I'll put together a BLT vid someday too, before it's too late. :?

edit: I just noticed that youtube muted my entire 9 minute Glamis vid soundtrack because it has about 30 seconds of a Linkin Park song in it. Here is their message.
"Your video, Glamis, may have audio content from Forgotten by Linkin Park that is owned or licensed by WMG"

Not intentionally, no.

Nancy is of course still syndicated to this day, and it's never been funny either.

Well, naturally I had to look it up. This must be it. Sexy 1966 style.

Not to hijack the reminiscing thread or anything  but I am totally in for this title. It actually helped me through some writer's block. I had a chorus and a verse and a half, but nowhere to go with it. Ah, nostalgia for the End of Days... :)

Re: Significant others interfering with music-making

If you really like making music, you will find inspiration in other places than your love deficiency. Once you accept that you're lovable and fine the way you are, you have to figure out what your real wants and inspirations are (rather than what you think would impress others to make yourself more likable).

Ok, only 2 days to the deadline. I've got my "best" songfight song (so far) written, now the question is whether it'll get recorded.

I promised to outfolk myself, and the only way I would be more folky than what I've written is if I did a protest song.

This is the first one that actually holds up when compared to my normal stuff, although my wife thought my "horse with no name" unintentionally inspired "Green Eleven" entry was the best thing I've ever written. While I tend to allow people to have their own opinions without them being right or wrong, that opinion is simply wrong!

I had an idea for a folksy reminiscin' song about how "wonderful" life was before everyone embraced the scientific method but it seems too pandery and I couldn't really come up with more than a couple verses. Also I got sick so recording it probably wouldn't have worked out anyway.

I might not be in after all. My collaborator had some unforeseen circumstances, and though I could finish it myself tomorrow night, I'm not sure I want to do that with my Friday night.
