I've been in a creative slump, haven't picked up my guitar for months, so I'm going to try to commit to this song (perfect song title too). I...think...I...can!

I've got a verse-and-a-chorus worth of lyrics, as well as a proto-melody, so lets say I'm in.

Had a writing session with a friend this morning and recorded it this afternoon. Includes some timing vomit, because I haven't done anything too strange with timing yet.

It's me again, Margret! I've got a demo for this title. And guess what? No wacky timings and I think I can keep the pitchiness to a minimum on this one. Soooooo, anyone who wants to help (even if just to supply a drum loop for me to record to), please check it out:

Am having issues with the recording process (computer down for servicing) but if I can get it back up in time, the song is written and I hope to be able to enter.

So the song I had in my head was like some sort of Frankie Big Face + Glenn Case collaboration but of course I can't pull off either of their styles so what's coming out so far is very very different than I originally imagined.

This turned into sort of a Plaid sort of thing. With lyrics.

(Plaid the band)

(which I like, independent of liking plaid the pattern)

(although to be honest I found out about them by doing a google search on "i like plaid" to see how a googlebomb was doing because at the time I was like the only person who liked plaid but I guess now it is some sort of fad YAY ME)

anyway I like Plaid

Recorded drums for half of this song, only to find out that I'd had the +20db pad on my pre's engaged, Flaming-Lips-ifying my drum sound instantly. Yeesh. I contemplated pretending it was intentional for about four seconds, then deleted and rerecorded. Much improved. Now all I have left to do is... everything else.

I've got a song I like, will probably be acapella. Wish me luck as far as making it come together before friday.
Notes for reviews: "Stronger vocal" means several things at once. Tighter timing, more confident pitch, arranging in your range.

If I'm not commenting on your drums it means they were pretty good.

Underlined artists are votes.

I recorded enough this weekend that I'm compelled to finish it, just so it wasn't all for nothing. There are sloppy bits I'd like to correct, but I probably won't have time. The drum track is totally inadequate. I still have to come up with lyrics. Things are busy at work. Sound inspiring, doesn't it?

I' have lyrics, so I'll be in. With luck I'll find time for improvements before the deadline. Otherwise, it is what it is.

I'm in. Blemishes and all. All the lead work was written and recorded this morning in about an hour and it shows. However, I think I got a good riff going and it's a hell of a lot better than just me and the acoustic. As always, I hope y'all can be kind to my poor recording and guitar skills.

In, but the recording feels crowded. I think when you have to turn a track down to 2.5 in the mix, that's a hint that the track didn't have enough headroom.

I stayed up last night to record and submit my first entry. And of course the "band name" is Ben Bradley.

I guess it depends. I like to have the individual tracks just shy of clipping, because you can always turn them down, but often the sound quality degrades if you have to turn them more than a few db up. That said, Almost all my songs wind up with almost all their tracks turned down to the negatives.

I'm not in this fight, by the way.
