Mine usually go

A a A a A

Where A=chorus and a= verse that sounds almost exactly like the chorus but it a little less loud. I'm a child of nirvana, what can I say?

I think song layout is one of the least important aspects of composition. The formula I-V-C-V-C-B-C-C is in thousands of rock songs.

(I - Intro
V - Verse
C - Chorus
B - Break/Solo)

I've never heard anyone complain that every song on an album has the same structure - even though they often do. People often complain that the band sticks to the same three chords, all the lyrics are about the same thing, the production always sounds the same or they've only got one volume setting.

But complaining that the choruses always come after the verses and the solo's always near the end? That's just perverse.

Well, shit.

I just wrote a seriously depressing song for this title, but I don't think I have the mental fortitude to get through recording it right now.

I had a really hard time writing something happy. Does it count if "ashes" is only said once in one of the verses? ;)

I have a chorus but the verse just WILL. NOT. COME.

Guess I'm sitting this one out.

Another GnG song. Mostly recycled lyrics. Sloppy (but live) played and sung. It took me about 5 minutes to record - and now I've been spending more than an hour to decide if I should annoy somebody with it...
I think, I'm in. Just to be in it, this time.

After a couple of weeks off (I had to go back to work) I am in also. Been working hard on what you guys have told me about production. Probably made all the same mistakes, but I made them differently this time. Also the lyrics are probably too cliche for those that hate that sort of thing. But I referenced Elvis, not once but twice. That has to count for something. LOL! This might be my last one for a while, I start CDL training on the due date of this fight. Thanks for all the positives and the negatives in the reviews.

Juliet's Happy Dagger is bringing the orchestra this time. Not the whole thing, we let the brass have the night off, but everyone else pulled overtime on this one.

Can we arrange a listening party for this one? Irwin? Mike Lamb? Bueller? :-)

Well, I had a good song, but I have no time to finish it up. Might post it next weekend when I'm back from my work trip. Sad times.

Alright, I hear there's going to be a listening party again!

The fight's due Monday, so we're sheduling the party for Monday night at 7pm* PDT. Join the Songfight chat room at or before 7pm PDT** and we'll give you the link to the stream.

*If the fight isn't posted by that time, we'll be streaming Circle of Titles II, so either way there will be songs to listen to! Backup plans rock!

**7pm PDT = U.S. West Coast time. If you live in CDT like me, it'll be 9pm. If you live on the East Coast, that's 10pm.
