Upon further reflection, I think this is a not bad title at all, and I even have this imaginary idea about what the song should sound like. Unfortunately, I won't be in unless I can bang something out this weekend. I'm stuck in another town for work until Saturday, sans guitar, and I'm usually notoriously slow at recording anything. L'sigh.

Looks like a last minute one for me! I'll start cracking about 930-10 tomorrow night. Thinking I might rock this one out a bit.

Just sent mine in - worked on this one (off & on) for the full 10 days so no excuses this time! I probably put more hours into this one than 90% of my entries ... not sure if that's evident in the final thing though.

I made it in, it's rough. Love doing this though. Having no expectations/ limitations is pretty awesome.

I did a few of these super quick songs for the FAWM (http://www.FAWM.org) this year ...they call it a "song skirmish" and you have to write/record a song within one hour for a title (just like SongFight) ... it's pretty fun although one hour is really pushing it for me with the way I do things.

Maybe a single day song fight thing would be fun here (on the sideboard I mean) .. not all the time, but maybe every once in awhile. I'd be up for it! (if I wasn't busy that day anyway...)

All of my songs on here have been written and recorded in under 2 hrs each. The performance suffers because I commit to a take and don't look back due to time constraints, and then I hit send on the email before my brain catches up to say "NOOOOO!!!" This last one I recorded ---I finished in 70 minutes---I was at the 65 minute mark and the solo wasn't tracked yet, I literally ran across the room, grabbed my pedal hooked it up, quickly hit record, played a TERRIBLE solo and hit save---then send.

Every single time I sent a song on here so far my brain immediately says "what did i do!!!!???" Ha!!

That's really cool Kip! Taking the filter off and going for it. I would love to incorporate some of that thinking in my own work.

Dig into the Side Fights forum a bit and you'll see a lot of stuff like this.

Yep. Lots of crossover between FAWM and Song Fight!, both in terms of people and concepts. We haven't had a skirmish in a long time, though... was Prayer for Pancakes the last one?

Also, looks like song skirmish had its own .php thing what's gone missing. Ugh.

I think I should also say that I try to have an extremely efficient environment where I am not having to tweak things too much and that allows me a speedier recording time. For songfight (outside of suitcase which was just a mic and guitar) I have recorded everything directly into my computer--- emulated amps---pre set vocal effects----electronic drums (performed--not programmed)---midi keys. I literally sit down with a click track, write a guitar track/ song structure (I typically use ampitube 3 to run my guitars thru) ---sometimes keep it ---sometimes re-track-----then drums I use a roland td-4 kit lined into my computer running bfd-3 which is an amazing drum program----I line bass in through a pre amp and eq it accordingly----- vocals I have a few condensers I use and I typically use a vocal effects vst called izotope nectar that has outstanding presets that sound good with just a touch of reeling in. For my solo on L'Occitane I used a digitech whammy pedal to get that weird high pitched solo sound.

Yes I realize this should be in another forum probably

-----I was just listening to L'Oocitane and I discovered that I said "he" on a line where I should have said "she" so it is apparently a homosexual song---not that there is anything wrong with that!!!
