Most of the example songs in that list I find ... uninspiring. I'll offer one of my own, as a palette cleanser.

Yes. Good job. Your example is much more palatable. Crap challenge.

Anyone should feel free to post additional examples. The examples we provided are by no means intended to be specific guides for your entry.

That said, I'd encourage everyone to attempt to write a song that you would not be embarrassed to have played at an actual public event of this type. Is this harder than writing just for our little group of fellow songwriters? Probably, but challenges are supposed to be challenging, and if you've made it to Round 3 you'll have already proven your songwriting skills twice over.

Challenge accepted. You missed the most important part of the challenge.

‘Or similar events.’

I need to ponder for a while on this.

And if you're like me and didn't make it out of round one then you already know you suck so you might as well suck one more time and shadow.
(Or something said more nicely that means the same thing.)

"The Mary Ellen Carter" by Stan Rogers is not really specific to any of the events listed in the challenge, but it is a great uplifting song that won't make you want to pour bleach in your ears. Or rather, if it does, you and I have nothing more to talk about.

Placeholder for the Round 3 Listening Party!
Monday 3/2 at 9pm EST. It'll be a shorter version without a west coast feed, because I'm on a plane in the early AM.
