We Visited a Forest Full of Graves

Post by j$ »

We Visited a Forest Full of Graves by mister Johnny Cashpoint

We visited a forest full of graves
Cathedral made from human bones
Castle where three thousand kids’
Blood still stains the cobblestones.

What person wants to see a forest full of graves?
That’s last time I ever let you book our holidays!

We visited a forest full of graves
Tour-guide told some tasteless jokes
We sent postcards, had a buffet
By the blood-stained castle moat.

I didn’t want to eat on site of massacre
That’s last time I’ll ever take a fellow traveler!

We visited a forest full of graves
In radioactive exclusion zone
Tourist information office
Suggested we should just go home.

just go home!

No more holidays found on social media -
Let’s be more conventional and book trips with Expedia.

Next year we’re going to the beach
(Though it will probably turn out to be
The site of some forgotten pogrom ... )!

we visited a forest full of graves
then we visited a graveyard full of trees
and when I look back now
I find I'm not sure how
to separate this pair of memories

We dipped our toes in a pool of shame
Visited melancholy and the pain
A life of no honor and hearts made hard
Forest of promises made into shards
Full of remorse and our contrition
Of repentance by our admission
Graves mark what once was our oath!

We swore an oath to uphold honor
Visited glory that we had squandered
A sentence of shame and derision
Forest of guilt that blocks our vision
Full of our anger and all that arises
Of the shame in our compromises
Graves mark what once was our oath!

The immutable
The thing I need the most
And the single thing
That I am scared to find on my own

And this progress is
Not what I thought it’d be
Cause unfortunately
I gotta find my way back to reality

Cause in this ocean of a storm
My heart has become war torn
And I am scared to live
Cause I’d have to die first

The greatest friend of mine
Divine and misalligned
I’ve made him the enemy
Why can’t I let go of me?

I’m not ok
With a forrest full of graves

And who’s to say
That I can’t change

The path that I’m on

I don’t understand myself
Cause I want to do what’s right
But instead i do what I hate
And I come to create the things

That I stand against the most
And I feel as if I’m close
To the thing
That hates me

So don’t let me fear
Cause I’ll kill my dreams
With a simple blink
When I overthink
And that’s dangerous
To my little trust

If I lose control
Of what little I have
What do I really suffer?
A minor mishap
Followed by greatness
And peace of mind

I’m not ok
With a forrest full of graves

And who’s to say
That I can’t change

The path that I’m on

Missio Dei
It’s the end of my ways, oh
Missio Dei
It’s the end of my ways, oh
Ba da da da da
Ba da da da da

Man grows closer by asking questions
So let me sit and shoot at the heavens above
Ba da da da da
Ba da da da da

Oh I’m terrified,
But that doesn’t disqualify me from living life
Trust in the high and I’ll make it by
Oh Missio Dei, it’s the end of my ways
