Poetry In The Streets
Pigfarmer Jr

I saw a woman give a homeless man
A dollar and some change
He stood up and gave her a hug
Then he told her his name

I saw a man with a flat in a parking lot
And he did not have a spare
Three or four people offered to help
Give a rid or the uber fare

There's poetry in the streets
There's love in the air
If someone needs a helping hand
Will you be the one who's there?

I saw a boy in some hand me down clothes
And a bully was mocking him
Just when it was getting rough
A football star stepped in

There's poetry in the streets
There's love in the air
If someone needs a helping hand
Will you?

There's poetry in the streets
There's love in the air
If someone needs a helping hand
Will you be the one who cares?

Poetry In The Streets
Pork Producer II

Sitting underneath a tree
It's only thirty degrees
But he wind is blowing hard
It's a down right cold, cold breeze
Even though it's not your fault
I still give you the blame
But it still hurts whenever I hear
Someone says your name

Elizabeth, why don't you call?
Don't you remember me at all?

Sitting underneath that tree
Don't expect you to understand
Well, I'm just doing the best I can

Well, I'm walking alone
Just wandering through the empty streets
I can feel the poetry
In the movement of my feet
But the song I hear is sad
And I can't help but wonder why
Why I ever let you leave
Let you say goodbye

Elizabeth, why don't you call?
Don't you remember me at all?

I'm walking through the empty streets
Don't expect you to understand
I'm just doing the best I can

Poetry in the Streets - Vom Vorton

when I see a blue car
parked next to a new bar
(poetry in the streets)
when I’m stopped at a stop light
see a poster for a pop night
(poetry in the streets)

when two yellow lines
mean a parking fine
to a traffic warden’s
very visible boredom

the rhymes hit my brain
and I’m smiling again
there’s an accidental magic
I can barely explain
it’s a gift, it’s a joy, it’s a treat
it’s poetry… poetry in the streets

there’s a flag on a flagpole
a man in a manhole
(poetry in the streets)
a curry vendor
serves a money lender
(poetry in the streets)

when the aforementioned loan shark
pulls out of a car park
then slams on his brakes
to avoid a truck full of cakes

the rhymes…

and I know not all poetry is required to rhyme
but an accidental haiku is much trickier to find
I’m far too lazy
to start counting syllables
this late in the day

a dog on the pavement
sits quiet and patient
(poetry in the streets)
a bird in a tree
sings its third melody
(poetry in the streets)
a sunglasses seller
puts up her umbrella
(poetry in the streets)
I notice I’m grinning
the world keeps on spinning
it’s poetry… poetry… poetry… poetry in the streets

Marvin Mushroom
always walkin' around town
he claims he's seen into the future.

Fascist Meathogs
singing "la la la la la"
they say you've been a bad consumer.

I know it might
sound something like
some crazy man,
but if you hear
without your fear
maybe you'll understand.

Doctor Flavor
deletes sugar from your mouth
'cause you just can't taste the producer.

I know it might
sound something like
some crazy man,
but if you hear
without your fear
maybe you'll understand...

Poetry in the Streets
by Lichen Throat

There goes Wordsworth, walking with John Donne,
Heading south on Highway 61.
At the corner of St. Clair and Jane,
Byron talked about Abel and Cain.
There’s poetry in the streets;
Recite the words of Shelley and Keats.
There’s music on the page;
Bring the past into the modern age.

Strolling down Ventura Boulevard,
Whitman spoke of lilacs in the dooryard.
Twelve miles south, on Gower Avenue,
Coleridge wrote rhymes about Xanadu.
There’s poetry in the streets;
Listen to the howls of the Beats.
There’s music on the page;
Bring the past into the modern age.

At a party near Mavis and Water,
Old Seamus Heaney recited “The Otter.”
Out on Hotchkiss Valley Road,
Marianne Moore’s garden had a toad.
There’s poetry in the streets;
Hail the parakeet of parakeets.
There’s music on the page;
Bring the past into the modern age.

They're playing hopscotch, and it looks top-notch
But you don't know what it means
You're wearing flip-flops, and you're woofin' scotch
But all you want is jelly beans

And the day will come when they're reading poetry in the streets
And you'll be free to be a beat
When the tyrants go down in defeat

You feel the sunshine,(You feel the sunshine) and you wish that sometimes
Everything was peachy keen (Everything was peachy keen)
Please leave the duck blind, and you'll do just fine
I'm sure that you'll see what's the scene

They'll plunder for fun while you're under their thumbs
(Go shopping watch TV stay dumb)
The thunder of guns while you're scrounging for crumbs
(No stopping no breathing no fun)
But every dog has its day in the sun

You're soaring solo, no more a no show
Spirit is squeaky clean
Flying on a Friday night, cut the string to kite
And the traffic light is green

Put together the reason and the rhyme
Change the weather from the treason and the crime
It's always better to free up the mind
But you gotta take the time

I hear them reading (They're reading)
I hear them reading (They're reading)
Opressors leaving (They're leaving)
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

by Berkeley Social Scene

Where do you find
what’s on the city’s mind?
Go where the people meet,
out in the street.

There’s comfort in a winding road
There’s music in every zip code

On the lips of passers by
Poetry in the streets
A paper slip killing time
Poetry in the streets

How to express
a world in distress?
Hear how the voices repeat,
out in the street

There’s comfort in a winding road
There’s music in every zip code

On the lips of passers by
Poetry in the streets
A paper slip killing time
Poetry in the streets

Quiet mornings before the city wakes
Everything is peaceful until the silence breaks
Noise arises and sidewalks shake
Rhythm and rhyme in concrete landscapes

Where can you run
When you’re under the gun?
Feel your heartbeat,
out in the street

There’s comfort in a winding road
There’s music in every zip code

On the lips of passers by
Poetry in the streets
A paper slip killing time
Poetry in the streets

While this was read from a personal Bible that I own, this is what is generally being read, from another source:

Revelation 13

13 The dragon[a] stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. 2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. 4 People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?”

5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. 7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. 8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.

9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.

10 “If anyone is to go into captivity,
into captivity they will go.
If anyone is to be killed[c] with the sword,
with the sword they will be killed.”[d]

This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.

The Beast out of the Earth
11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[e] That number is 666.
