Nur Ein XIV - R5 - WHERE THE STREETS HAVE NO NAME

WHERE THE STREETS HAVE NO NAME NE XIV.5.1.4 [Backward story structure]

We hug goodbye at Mannheim’s sunset
Time and Truth atop the sculpture
Grass and daisies, massive fountain
Wander to Paradeplatz
We eat kebabs, bright red with pepper
Where’s a park? I’m bored of concrete

“Listen to this,” she said. Rammstein ist Deutschland she said.
Es ist nicht gut, dass der Mensch allein sei [x2]

Strolling in the sunshine
Listening to Rammstein
In the heart of Mannheim
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name

That seemed like a bad idea
“Come up to my flat for tea?”
She mocked “You smile at everyone”
I smiled and said “Selamat pagi”
Tattoos, nose ring, Rammstein shirt
She saunters from Trust Bodymod

Es ist nicht gut, dass der Mensch allein sei [x2]

CH

Tags spray-painted on the pillars
I walked back to-ward the Marktplatz
Plants and posters in the windows
It was now a hair salon
Friends said deals at Ehret Musik
I rode the bus to Mannheim Marktplatz

Where The Streets Have No Name
by the Sunday Colors

The money’s pretty good, I can’t complain
I stay inside most everyday
I write letters so no one will see my face
The nurses come by but they don’t meet my gaze
No-one ever does

Have a rare burst of clarity so I walk to the park
Most days I don’t show my husk until long after dark
A mother’s child approaches me while I’m sitting at the bench
He points at my skin and he asks the only question
No-one ever does

Let the wolves come tumbling out the back of the van
Sniffing out their traces on the desert plain
Paper fortress rises maybe, somewhere in Kansas
Where the air is dust and the city streets have no name

Mom says, “son, why’d you have to go and turn out this way?”
She hides her tears but blames herself for everything
There was never any reason to worry
I was gonna be lonely anyway

Cold metal barrel on my tongue, I hum a simple tune
In my heart I know these old and awful songs will guide me through
I lay down on my belly sprawled against the cork wood floor
Past the point of no return I listen to the rising squall beyond the door

Where The Streets Have No Name by Vowl Sounds

What actually happened the night before "No Memory"? Just a drunken hookup, or something more? Things are starting to come back to our narrator now...

We don't speak
Steam rises from our coffee cups
You touch my cheek
I feel like I'm falling up
Weightless
Spinning between joy and dread
Trying to make sense
Of the memories flooding my head

Stop the world with a flash
Clutch it in a freeze frame
Wind the black ribbon back
To where the streets have no name
Erase the word that's written on each sign
Unbreak the glass, uncrush the butterfly
Turn back time

There was blood on my hands last night
Blood on the bathroom floor
What did you do to your wife?
She's not breathing anymore

I lifted her head from the tile
She felt as heavy and cold as stone
Oh, God, she's gone now!
Left us alone, this bird has flown...

Looking back, we reached for LOVE
But EVOL looked the same
We walked the streets of our yearning
And called each one by name
Lit the night up with our secret burning
Our old forbidden flame roared up bright, returning
And then the world changed

(mysterious Satanic messages)

How did we get here?
It felt like a palindrome
When you kissed me again in that bar yesterday
It felt like coming back home
You said to me then
We have to be together forever
and I said yes, you're right, I love you
Light as a feather

Stop the world with a flash
Clutch it in a freeze frame
Wind the black ribbon back
To where the streets have no name
Erase the darkness written on each sign
Take back our words and turn them all to lies
Turn back time

Stop the world with a flash
Clutch it in a freeze frame
Wind the bloody ribbon back
To where the streets have no name
I'm lost...
Is this love? Or is it evil?
The words look the same to me now

Agony Sauce
Where the Streets Have No Name

And the factory burned like the future of the town
All the flames climbed higher as we were gathered around
Set fire to the walls, and they lit up in seconds
They can take all our jobs, but we'll send them a message

T-R-O-U-B-L-E is on the horizon
They're all heartless, and gutless and now I despise them
The fat cats are worthless, they don't know what they're doing
Do they even know how many lives that they've ruined?

WHERE THE STREETS HAVE NO NAME AND THEY'RE DIRT OR THEY'RE GRAVEL
AND THERE'S NOT MUCH TO SEE, AND NOT FAR YOU CAN TRAVEL
THERE'S GOOD-HEARTED PEOPLE AND THAT'S HALF OF THE BATTLE
WOULDN'T TAKE VERY MUCH FOR THIS ALL TO UNRAVEL

Took a belt to his neck and he hung from the rafters
John felt fooled and betrayed but now none of that matters
Kept the stockholders happy, with the money they saved
They closed down the factory, the decision was made

By now it feels like this building's been here forever
Our town grew and blossomed, and it changed for the better
This job seemed like the best thing that had ever happened
In no time, They built the structure they had imagined

WHERE THE STREETS HAVE NO NAME AND THEY'RE DIRT OR THEY'RE GRAVEL
AND THERE'S NOT MUCH TO SEE, AND NOT FAR YOU CAN TRAVEL
THERE'S GOOD-HEARTED PEOPLE AND THAT'S HALF OF THE BATTLE
WOULDN'T TAKE VERY MUCH FOR THIS ALL TO UNRAVEL

So he spoke up and said why don't we give them a chance
My friend John's well respected, and he's good with his hands
And most of us are skeptical, told them to leave town
Modern industry wants to plant some stakes in our ground

The salt of the Earth, filled with faith, hope, and charity
Hard working people, the promise of prosperity
We don't have a lot, but we get by eventually
This city was formed at the turn of the century

WOULDN'T TAKE VERY MUCH FOR THIS ALL TO UNRAVEL
THERE'S GOOD-HEARTED PEOPLE AND THAT'S HALF OF THE BATTLE
AND THERE'S NOT MUCH TO SEE, AND NOT FAR YOU CAN TRAVEL
WHERE THE STREETS HAVE NO NAME AND THEY'RE DIRT OR THEY'RE GRAVEL

Where the Streets Have No Name

People talk to me but I don't speak the language
Like the streets where I'm living I do not have a name

Where the streets have no name I'n anonymous
And I'll be safely out of their reach

Wrong place wrong time that's all it was
No time to argue or discuss
I'm going where I don't exist
I wish it hadn't come to this
But I'm out of time
Gotta leave this life behind
Leave it behind, yeah

Pushed the car off a cliff and I saw it soaring
And as far as they know I was behind the wheel

Where the streets have no name I'n anonymous
And I'll BE safely out of their reach

Wrong place wrong time that's all it was
No time to argue or discuss
I'm going where I don't exist
I wish it hadn't come to this
But I'm out of time
Gotta leave this life behind
Leave it behind, yeah

Shady figures suspect
I saw too much
It isn't safe any more
I think I'm being watched
I'm being watched

On my own chilling out trying to mind my business
When I saw something that nobody wants to see

Where the streets have no name I'm anonymous
And I might find a moment of peace

Wrong place wrong time that's all it was
No time to argue or discuss
I'm going where I don't exist
I wish it hadn't come to this
But I'm out of time
Gotta leave this life behind
Leave it behind, yeah
Leave it behind, yeah

I wasn't here, I wasn't close
You never saw me, I'm a ghost
Music is love in search of a word...

Ohne Ruhm entry

Lying on the ground on a dreary grave.
Too late to know that he forgave
Everything you did In years gone by;
No reason that you had to die.
Oh, Lady Dedlock, it’s too late
To avoid your miserable fate.
Once you stepped through the graveyard gate,
Your life was doomed to terminate.
Out where the streets have no name,
Run through the London night.
You’re not the one who’s to blame,
But you can’t escape your plight.

Once you saw the writing on the page,
You flashed to the day at the orphanage
When you left your daughter alone;
Now she’s become a woman grown.
Your husband knew nothing of your past,
Had no idea of your lowly caste.
All that you have could be gone so fast
When your secret comes out at last.
Out where the streets have no name,
Run through the London night.
You’re not the one who’s to blame,
But you can’t escape your plight.

Leave a note, flee the pain,
Tell them all you’ve done.
Any way you explain,
You’d be forever shunned.

Even a scant few months ago,
Life had become boring and slow.
Married to a man in his later years,
You just sat still and hid your tears.
Conceal your past from that miserable sleuth.
Stiff upper lip, tongue under tooth,
For indiscretions of your youth,
Damned if you lie or tell the truth.
Out where the streets have no name,
Run through the London night.
You’re not the one who’s to blame,
But you can’t escape your plight.

Lyrics- Frisbee

verse
6 feet of dirt and a resting heart
Will help me find my peace
Dig into this cold hard earth
And lay my body down.

They gave me two silver dollars
To decorate my eyes
The bulb will flash but I stay still
should come as no surprise

chorus
This quiet town should keep me
Until it knows my ways
This sleepy town will shelter me
At least a couple days

The old saloon will pardon me
Until my heart turns rotten
No kind soul will come for me
I’ve surely been forgotten

verse
Ten pounds of dust and broken heart
All I have to my name
I traded my last silver dollar for
A dream that never came

This trail had run its course
When I came riding into to town
Found a place to rest my horse
Rest for me I’ve never found

Chorus
This quiet town should keep me
Until it knows my ways
This sleepy town will shelter me
At least a couple days

The old saloon will pardon me
Until my heart turns rotten
No kind soul will come for me
I’ve surely been forgotten

Where The Streets Have No Name
by Merisan
(only, Erin couldn't participate this time, so ... it's really just Lunkhead)

He floated away
Like spent cannon fodder
Falling face down
In the murky green water
Stumbling on the banks
Of the dank filthy river
He spoke his last words
“I’ll never forgive her”

Still he kept going
Like a runaway train
Took two in the gut
At the police barricade
Three miles long
He left a trail of destruction
If you’d done wrong well
You surely met your ruin

When demons and villains had twisted this town
The people went out and pulled the signs down
Made a monster out of metal with vengeance in his veins
And set him to work where the streets have no name

Walking away from
The cinder and the smoke
Burned down the town hall
And left the mayor to choke
Then saw the crooked judge
And set him straight
Before paying one last visit
To the sheriff on the take

On a bloody rampage
That they hadn’t bargained for
He lumbered away to
Settle all their scores
He got a second chance
To put his life to use
They only wanted justice
When they set him loose

When demons and villains had twisted this town
The people went out and pulled the signs down
Made a monster out of metal with vengeance in his veins
And set him to work where the streets have no name

They stole his body
For their scheme in the shadows
For his heinous crime
He was dropped in the gallows
In a jealous rage
He cut down his ex-lover
He couldn’t live with her
Loving another

When demons and villains had twisted this town
The people went out and pulled the signs down
Made a monster out of metal with vengeance in his veins
And set him to work where the streets have no name

Lyrics: Geech

I was resting in my own home
I didn't hear him sneak in, creep in alone
He had a sword and caught me off-guard
He wasn't scared he declared as he charged

He tracked me, attacked me, then hacked me down
I was left there lying like an animal
Let's see him find his way out
He can with a plan but man I have my doubts

I was sent to live in shame
Where the streets have no name
I wonder what I became
Where the streets have no name

I grew up quickly, strong as a bull
In the streets people freaked but I kept my cool
I just wanted a normal kind of life
But I was shunned, friends with none and I cried

They sent me away to this terrible place
Where no one could see my terrible face
People started visiting terrified
Just like I was when I arrived

I was sent to live in shame
Where the streets have no name
I wonder what I became
Where the streets have no name

I never wanted to end up here
I’ve been taken by all my fear
You’re better off if you steer clear
I didn’t mean to hurt anyone
You know It’s nothing I had begun
I look at myself and wonder what I’ve done.

The king prayed to the god of the sea
Send me a message of war victory
A fine creature came down his way
It vexed his wife, changed her life in the worst way

You should have been there when I was born
Oh man jaws dropped, hearts stopped and moaned
I was chubby and I was pretty ugly
Only my queen mum thought I was lovely

I was sent to live in shame
Where the streets have no name
I wonder what I became
Where the streets have no name

I was given all the blame
Where the streets have no name
Now I live in fame
Where the streets have no name

Note: This is kind of 3 stories backwards at the same time.

I'll put a spoiler at the end, but if you'd like to guess: there are 5 decades of quarter notes in each verse section. (That's why it's 5/8.)

Lyrics:
When your mother became queen
She wore a shining gown and a twelve-pointed crown

When her journey was complete
She laid down to rest her eyes, departing gracefully

——-
Please help my friend, I’ve lost him
I suspect that he’s lost himself too
I’m worried he might be detained
Where the streets have no name
Please help him find his way through
----------
You sent an advocate in a period of long absence
Who gave us seven gifts to serve as our defense

And when you returned back home
We still celebrate the ascent to your throne
-----------
(chorus)
---------
They left you for dead - though there was no body
But then you arrived, after conquering the enemy

——-
Please help my friend, I’ve lost him
I suspect that he’s lost himself too
I’m worried he might be detained
Where the streets have no name
Please help him find his way through

-------
Please help my friend, I’ve lost him
I suspect that he’s lost himself too
He doesn’t know where to go
And can’t return from where he came
Even though all the paths will end the same

This is my sole intention
As I ponder the return, ascent, descent, assumption, and coronation.
I hope with this prayer and with the others’ intercessions
He’ll finally, finally find his way home

The narrator is meditating on the Glorious Mysteries for a dead loved one to make it out of Purgatory. Isn't that fun and interesting? Kinda funny how the Glorious Mysteries told backwards seem forward, right?

Where The Streets Have No Name
by Max Bombast

I made a statue of myself to prove that I was here
I wrote a book, when it was done everyone had disappeared
I had a wife who took her life because she knew we were the last
Saw the end of everything when we witnessed the collapse of the world

We ventured out onto the earth that had been frozen stiff
After weeks inside the shelter where the two of us had hid
The only sounds had been the storm
Even the radio was dead
Saw the earth had been transformed
We fled into the oubliette
From the worms in the sky

Our forefathers forsake us to die
Where the streets have no name
When there is no one left to see the signs
Hidden beneath the Ice

The sky is full of tornadoes
By now it's too late to undo what we did
The ocean is frozen forever
We both had front row seats to the apocalypse

Our forefathers forsake us to die
Where the streets have no name
When there is no one left to see the signs
Hidden beneath the Ice-niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine

where the streets have no name

last week
it was a hard one (understatement)
and i flew back as fast as they let me
and i feel bad that’s
all that i can do
but at least i made it

i can live on no-name streets
or live in cardboard houses
cause what i wanna do is have
a home, with you
on a mountain
or deep under water
cause what i wanna do is have
a home, with you

last month
has been a long one (understatement)
cause i hate boxes full of stuff
cause i know in six weeks they'll be
still full on the floor
i know in six weeks things will be better

i could live on no-name streets
or live in cardboard houses
cause what i wanna do is have
a home, with you
on a mountain
or deep under water
cause what i wanna do is have
a home, with you

last year
has been a weird one (understatement)
so much has changed, and for the better
but i've a lot to get over
and get through
but now i get to move in with you

i can live on no-name streets
or live in cardboard houses
cause what i wanna do is have
a home, with you
on a mountain
or deep under water
cause what i wanna do is have
a home, with you
