If only I
Had a skeleton key
We could open your mind
Maybe set you free
See through your eyes
What you’re meaning to me
We would travel miles
Glide so delicately

Happenstance, oh happiness
Your lacy (alenon) oblivion
Irises deepest cerulean
Another century in the sand

If only I
Had a skeleton key
To unlock your dreams
And set them free
A gentle breeze
Coolest anomalies

La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la

It’s all so beautiful.
It's all so beautiful.
It's all so beautiful.

If only I
Had a skeleton key
To unlock your dreams
And set them free
A gentle breeze
Coolest anomalies

I've got the skeleton key to your mind
yes I can come inside
I'll take whatever I find
anytime

you can't plan all of these crimes anymore
there is nowhere to hide
and you just can't lock the door
you are mine

with my skeleton key
I am free
to go wherever I please
whatever you do, I see

I've got the skeleton key to your mind
yes I can come inside
I'll take whatever I find
anytime

Skeleton Key
miscellaneous owl

(this song 100% has doots and trumpets because I wanted to honor mr skeltal. Thank)

Image

I went to Oklahoma to see the museum of bones
Bats hung like broken umbrellas
Thin and bare and windblown
Thin and bare and windblown
Yeah, in the cabinet of wonders, the beetles ate away at old flesh
Time-lapse decay, all the softness goes away,
Until the hardness at the heart is all that's left
That hardness is all that's left

And I thought of the skeleton inside of me
Locked doors
Opened by a skeleton key
And I said

Doot doot doot doot...
Do you ever think about the last time
That you heard somebody's voice?

The shell of the dead armadillo was set in a crescent moon curve
(Just like the moon)
I thought of all these little mouths laid silent
And the calls I never returned
Yeah, all that tenderness rotted to earth

And I
Thought of all the brittle bones of these spines
Stretching between us
Like a Morse code line
Stretching through time

When I kissed my grandmother goodbye when she was dying
She cried and begged me not to leave
But I walked out of that room, and flew back to Wisconsin
And locked that door with a skeleton key

Doot doot doot doot...
Do you ever think about the last time
That you said somebody's name?

Doot doot doot doot...
Do you ever think about the last time
You thought that time remained?

Sit on the couch; leave your jacket on.
Got no choice; the end’s foregone.
Truth be told, it’s a bit warm.
Too late now to think about reform.
No window, no sun, no outdoor sounds.
No mirror hangs on the shabby wall.
You can’t go out and see the grounds,
Can’t unlock the door to the hall.
Even if you had a skeleton key,
You’d still stay locked inside.
Even if you had a place to be,
You’d just lie down and hide.

Two women with whom you’re entangled;
Caught within this hate triangle.
One wants you, the other, her.
Just be quiet; try not to stir.
Damn them both, already damned,
For seductions and dead babies.
In this room, you still are crammed
With these hellish ladies.
Even if you had a skeleton key,
You’d still stay locked inside.
Even if you had a place to be,
You’d just lie down and hide.

Disregard your loving wife;
Throw away your dreary life.
Stand before the firing squad,
Knowing that you won’t see God.
With open eyes, you can’t cry--
Nothing left to admit.
Stab yourself, but you can’t die.
Okay, let’s get on with it.
Even if you had a skeleton key,
You’d still stay locked inside.
Even if you had a place to be,
You’d just lie down and hide.

Let’s go run

I’m saying I’m tired

Of waiting

We can leave this whole place behind

(This is a new artist - I'm nudging them to get an account for themselves, but it's not a BYD production)

Skeleton Key - Paco del Stinko

I found my skeleton key, I thought I lost it
Gotta let all the skeletons out, of the closet

Maybe I'll unlock you too
Open up your soul
And set loose the truth
Aw baby, you can't say no to me
Cos I got a skeleton key

I made a skeleton key, from an old jaw
Knocked off all of the teeth, and gave it a saw

I got a skeleton key
I got a skeleton key
I got a skeleton key
And I'll set you free

I could use the key to unlock my skin
Remove all of the muscle and then I'd begin
I'd make scrimshaw out of my legs
And carve ancient runes into my head
Then I'd polish myself to gleam in the moonlight
And rattle your dreams as I dance throught the night
And when the sun rises I'll put on my skin
And what you'll remember is all of the sin

I got a skeleton key, made out of bone
And it opens up anything that I don't own

Skeleton Key - Hot Pink Halo

***

I watch those jelly bones dance in front of my face
I close my eyes but there is no escape

My legs and my arms fly all over the place
The world flips inside out like I'm walking through space

It's vertigo o o o o
Time shifts to slow mo slow mo slow
Then I hit the floor floor floor floor floor floor floor
Then I fall some more then I fall some more
It's vertigo go go go go

My mother couldn't hear me, didn't know what she was seeing
Thought those wibbly wobbly bones were just too scary for my being

Now I've a tinnitus curse but it could be worse
A mystery note in my left ear, high pitched vibrato ringing clear

It's not my skeleton, that's not the key
It's not those red toy bones, just my ears and me

It's vertigo o o o o
Time shifts to slow mo slow mo slow
Then I hit the floor floor floor floor floor floor floor
And then I fall some more then I fall some more then I fall some more
It's vertigo go go go go

Lily Plus Martin Skeleton Key Lyrics

I can go - I can walk - wherever I want
My face opens doors
I’m pointing at my name on your list
With a bony white finger
It’s there, it’s “Destroyer of Worlds”, that’s me

When I see a closed door
I don’t see a barrier
I see an opportunity
To move fast and break stuff
To blast it wide open
So me and my friends can enjoy
The remains of a door
The remains of a building
The remains of a city

I can go - I can walk - wherever I want
My love opens doors
I’m pointing at my name on your list
With a bony white finger
It’s there, it’s “Corrupter of Hearts”, that’s me

When I see a closed door
I don’t see a barrier
I see an opportunity
To heal you til you love me
To blast you wide open
So I can build my nest and enjoy
The remains of your mind
The remains of your heart
The remains of your body

We can go - we can walk - wherever we want
We open all doors
No need to hide our names from your list
Our bony white fingers
Collapsing all walls we see

We don’t need no stinking horses
To kick off this apocalypse
And don’t you worry
Don’t you worry
We wrote our names down on your list

Because
we can go - we can walk - wherever we want

Skeleton Key (Leppakron)

Buy me a drink and I'll tell you a story
A larcenous tale of hardship and glory
We were all young men when we set sail that day
The sea she was heaving, the sky it was grey
In the rain we said farewell to those on the quay
With the womenfolk wailing, our ship left the bay

By the Tropic of Cancer, the gales started blowing
The ship she was lost and the last of us rowing
And tossing about in the merciless sea
We spotted the island that no man should see
Where things came to pass that never should be
The island we came to call Skeleton Key

(solo)

Buy me another, my tale I'll continue
Tales of the bone being hewn from the sinew
As the men killed each other for pieces of eight
And each man succumbed to his terrible fate
As his flesh began slowly to disintegrate
And his bones came alive on Skeleton Key

Skeleton Key, where a pirate treasure
Is guarded by living bones of the dead
Skeleton Key, where the fate of the living
Is treachery ending in horror and dread

Skeleton Key - Tim Hinkle

file down the parts that stand out
all that remains is a skeleton key
open any door and invisibly slip inside
discarding all I am to be where I want to be

what was it that I meant to say?
now that I’m here the words just seem to slip away

mingling among the locksmiths
who design gates to keep us all outside
open any door, you can observe the flash of fear
that the rabble might burst in has got them terrified

what was it I came here to do?
though I’m no longer me, sure as hell I won’t be you

I’d like to bite your hand but all my teeth were ground away
still I can let the tigers in
they may not recognize me standing here outside my skin
but I was made to make the door open

Skeleton Key - The Magnetic Letters

Darren Beckham and Aaron Covich and Craig Wesley have got this
Key that unlocks the whole school
In a long-forgotten storeroom they set up a secret clubhouse
They've got a VCR
Somehow they dragged a couch in there
Darren showed me right after phys. ed. last week

I've seen those guys swinging sledgehammers, knocking down walls
In the Manual Arts building
Mr Rowley was buying them lunch or paying them or something
It looked like a lot of fun
The whole thing seemed a little unusual
I think it's got something to do with that skeleton key

I heard they were watching Red Dwarf when they should have been
In Social Studies class
And I think the thing is that they can be trusted
That is why they've got the skeleton key
And I'm not even jealous or nothing
There is no place that I would rather not be
If I'm gonna wag school I'll do it properly

They were asking for rubbish and looking pretty fearful
Standing 'round that bin like they had something to hide
After trying all week Craig finally jumped on a seagull
When I looked in their bin there was a feathery mess inside

Craig jumped out of the tree and it didn't fly away in time
I don't think that they expected it to work
No more skeleton key for those guys
Mr Rowley found out and went berzerk

"Skeleton Key"

You come a' knock, knock, knockin' with your big black boots
Trackin' mud up on my front porch stair

By that look on your face and the clock on the wall
I'd say you're feelin' that somethin' ain't fair

3 o'clock in the mornin's too early for you to be here so damn late
And now you're bearin' your bones, like a key, I want none of it
Time for us to get somethin' straight...

(CHORUS)
If you think I'm gonna let you in...
You got another thing comin'...
<spoken> There ain't no skeleton key for this house

Foolin' me once gets you nothin' but gone
I'll lock you out and then I'll swallow that key

Maybe you'll learn and you'll find someone else
Who'll take a chance on you but it won't be me

(CHORUS)
If you think I'm gonna let you in...
You got another thing comin'...
<spoken> There ain't no skeleton key for this house

(INSTRUMENTAL)

(CHORUS)
Ooo...if you think I'm gonna let you in...
You got another thing comin'...
<spoken> There ain't no skeleton key for this house

<repeatedly spoken until the end>There ain't no skeleton key for this house

so I’m going through the motions
and I’m putting things away
because a tidy house feeds a tidy mind
and my mind’s tired of being worn and frayed

theres still a smell that hangs in this room
and a pair of sequinned shoes in the corner
and I don’t think they would fit you anyway

and I guess we’ll never know

and everyone’s got secrets
yeah everyone’s got secrets
there’s moments of weakness and shame
bodies buried underneath the floor

if you pull up those boards
collect all the bones
you could build a skeleton that’s the key
to unlocking the darkest side of me

Skeleton Key
by Berkeley Social Scene

I’ve got it in my hand
A solution for any situation
It’s all according to plan
This familiar combination

Kept it out of sight
Hidden away from view
A secret unfolding
Revealing what is true

Skeleton key
To all your secret places
Lock it away
In all your hidden spaces

I’m everywhere you are
I have access to everything
Doors or gates or bolts or bars
I can get through anything

Kept it out of sight
Hidden away from view
A secret unfolding
Revealing what is true

Skeleton key
To all your secret places
Lock it away
In all your hidden spaces

I type your password in
Your defenses are down
But did you let me win
To keep me from getting out?

Kept it out of sight
Hidden away from view
A secret unfolding
Revealing what is true

Skeleton key
To all your secret places
Lock it away
In all your hidden spaces

Skeleton key
To all your secret places
Lock it away
In all your hidden spaces

Skeleton Key
Evil Grin

You said you never wanted to make me sad
You didn’t want to lose what we once had
But it’s hard to forgive and forget
And we haven’t learned how to yet

You always seem to blame me for all our fights
Love turned to anger and then into spite
And you never apologized
I think you believed all of your lies

I wanted you to hold me
But you only hold me down
You said I made you angry
Don’t know why you wanted me around
I think I finally know
It’s okay if I let you go
I wanted you to hold me
But you only hold me down

You felt like a cage for all these years
And you held the key that held me here
I guess I didn’t understand
That you never really gave a damn

I wanted you to hold me
But you only hold me down
You said I made you angry
Don’t know why you wanted me around
I think I finally know
It’s okay if I let you go
I wanted you to hold me
But you only hold me down

You were drunk when I came home
You started throwing things at me
It’s way past time, I’ve decided to leave
Think I’ve finally found the key

I wanted you to hold me
But you only hold me down
You said I made you angry
Don’t know why you wanted me around
But now I finally know
What it’s like to let you go
I wanted you to hold me
But you only hold me down
