I made a recording.
Wages - To Die On This Hill (Capo 2nd)
Bmsus-E-C-G x4
jam is Bm-C-Dsus, Bm-C-Emsus
we were hunting for a land to call our own
a place in the country, just out of town
some were too far away, and some had been logged
and some just didn't feel right at all
so we searched some more until eyes met
thirty acres with a hill and a pond
with a perfect plateau to build our home upon
we fell in love with this piece of land
we raised some beds and planted them too
we planted trees and recovered the woods
we threw some parties, some great shindigs
and we survived droughts and floods and floods and floods and FLOOODS
we built a house and paid our bills
like folks just livin' their daily days
I hope one day to die on this hill
incinerate me and spread near my pines, near my pines

To Die On This Hill - Brown Word and the Big Whine
On your last night in town
All your friends brought you out
How did you end up with me?
Ill-starred from the start
This collision of hearts
Two ships on our own little sea
Why can't this moment last forever?
I never want this night to stop
When we slipped out the back
Up a dark winding path
What did you have up your sleeve?
At the top of the rise
Friendly Town and its lights
Spilled below in a glittery gleam
One second felt just like forever
I never want this night to stop
To die on this hill
Everything would end so perfectly
To die on this hill
Cast in amber for eternity
To die on this hill
You'd never be the one that got away
To die on this hill
You'd never be the one who shouldn't have stayed
Oh it's a damned morbid thought
As my mind runs red hot
Locked inside of your magic embrace
How I wish this could all go on forever
I never want this night to stop
On your last night in town
All your friends brought you out
How did you end up with me?
Ill-starred from the start
This collision of hearts
Two ships on our own little sea
Why can't this moment last forever?
I never want this night to stop
When we slipped out the back
Up a dark winding path

To Die on This Hill
by Lichen Throat
Sarah got a job at the Chronicle,
Spent four years at the city desk,
Covering car crashes and garbage strikes;
It wasn’t exactly picturesque.
She’d ride her bike all over the hills,
Dripping sweat and screaming thighs,
Shivering in winter chill,
No big scoops, no Pulitzer Prize.
She didn’t come here to die on this hill,
Staring out from the windowsill.
Then she got sent to a foreign post,
Took a DC-7 to Budapest.
Her friends were confused about where she went;
Half of them thought it was Bucharest.
Nothing much happened for the first few months,
Then crowds starting marching in the streets,
They chanted in the urban labyrinths,
Cut holes in flags and stamped their feet.
Crossed the Danube on Elisabeth Bridge,
Climbed to the top of Gellért Hill,
Silhouettes standing on the ridge,
Shouts for freedom, loud and shrill.
They didn’t come here to die on this hill,
But to bend the nation to their will.
It seemed at first that things might be all right.
Sarah filed an article every night.
Imre Nagy said he would leave the Warsaw Pact;
Had the iron curtain finally cracked?
On November 4, the Soviets came back,
Tank treads rattling on the streets:
A sudden, brutal counterattack,
And the week ended in defeat.
Red Army boots on parliament floors,
Red flags back on every spire,
Just brief flareup in the Cold War,
A spark that didn’t light a fire.
They didn’t come here to die on this hill,
They came here to kill.

To Die on This Hill
The Pannacotta Army
To die on this hill
Would be stupid, my friend
To die on this hill
Such an unworthy end
Don’t nail your colours to the mast
You’re on your own when the die is cast
Is it your pride
That blinds you to what’s real?
Driving closed-eyed
And no hands on the wheel
No going back when your bridges are burned
History’s lesson is still to be learned
It’s provocation
Putting on an act
It's self-delusion
No basis in fact
Why do you have to take it so hard?
All your hope on the turn of one card
To die on this hill
It’s just stubborn denial
To die on this hill
How can it be worthwhile?
The Pannacotta Army
To die on this hill
Would be stupid, my friend

But there’s shale in Dakota that’s ready to frack
Well Lyle’s got a pile of letters from Joe
Asking him why he decided to go
Always couched in some anecdote
He just wants him back and that’s why he wrote

Singing a-cappella to that vinyl of the nylons

You were young and alive you had hills you would die on
And there’s a widow’s walk on the mansard roof
Where the sailors wives would wait aloof
Looking out to sea with a mourner’s gait
He might still come back, he’s just a few days late
But mama stands there with her back to the waves
Peering inland over the sailors’ graves
Thinks of her son on the western plains
Where they poison the water while they pray for the rain
Don’t you remember reading Shelly and Byron
Battlestar, and the fight with the cylons
Bob and the Wailers and Holy Mount Zion
You were young and alive you had hills you would die on
He’d be good for life if he could stay out of debt
But he hasn’t paid off his cadillac yet
he’s got a condominium and a TV set
He’s always buying crap on the internet
Natural gas, do they call it that still?
Does he really expect us to swallow that pill?
He sings their praises cause they pay the bills
Prairie money’s good but we’ll die on this hill
You got nobody, no shoulder to cry on
And you don’t write back, no one to rely on
Keep fracking that ground that’s flat as an iron
If you croaked right now you have no hill to die on

To Die On This Hill
William Parsons Project
I see smoke on the horizon
And sharp reflected glances
Of a gleaming armored column
As it inexorably advances
The orders came down from high command
To hold the high ground as long as we can
To fight the good fight down to the very last man
To die on this hill Is life’s great reward
We lived by and now we will die by the sword
We’re losing this battle but winning the war
Our hearts beat with courage
without any sorrow
certain they will be beaten today
And won’t be beating tomorrow
I can smell tomorrow’s ashes
See the phosphor burning
Hear the blasts of mortar shells
Feel the tide of battle turning
We opened up at 500 yards
On the men caught on the wire
Bullets whistled overhead as the infantry returned fire
Our lives will buy the time
To turn this place to hell
Cut the lines, Bury mines
Poison the well
Leave behind no witnesses
At least none that can tell
The evil this army did before it fell
To die on this hill Is life’s great reward
We lived by and now we will die by the sword
We’re losing this battle but winning the war
Our hearts beat with courage
without any sorrow

To Die On This Hill
by Max Bombast
I'd never climb a hill I wouldn't die on
Point me towards a windmill and I will fight one
Tilting and tilting and tilting all day long
Fighting for a lost cause until the break of the dawn
I heard a word
It came to me from on high
I said "I'll serve"
I'm more tenatious than the other guy
You know I'd do your bidding
I'd walk your dog
I'd clean your kitchen
Hell, I'd even start you a religion
If it would help me out
Is this really the hill you wanna die on?
Is this really the hill you wanna die on?
Is this hill a mountain or a mole?
Well, you just met a man who will never let go

I’ve been sent to die
I’ve been sent to die on this hill
I’ve been sent to die
I’ve been sent to die on this hill
I’ve been sent to die
I’ve been sent to die on this hill
I’ve been sent to die
I’ve been sent to die on this hill
I’ve been caught I fought for power
Onslaught junk infinite showers
Face turned sour I got caught
Invisible imbecile stunned to thought
A life without creeping and peeping
Take a chance to glance at pee pees
Stop believing in the future
Stole my power leaving a loser
I’ve been sent to die
I’ve been sent to die on this hill
I’ve been sent to die
I’ve been sent to die on this hill
Dragged away kicking and screaming
The shower sticky and steaming
Face beaming they can’t beat me
Power of peeping never leave me
I’ll be back they can’t see me
Voyeurism I believe in
Behind bars long and thick
I’m not sick nothing wrong with dicks
So I stole iguana powers
So my soul belongs in showers
Now I cower in jail cells
Farewell to power won’t fair well
I may be shook way stupefied
Look up hill slayed crucified
Classified a spy to be killed
Stop the steal I’ll die on this hill

To Die on This Hill
I'd give an arm to die on this hill
Pay for a limb with a soul
while the market moves so fast
it's tough to keep up
I'd buy a bridge to die on this hill
one that meets me at my doorstep
and carries me away
into the dark
I'd walk a mile to die on this hill
strewn with bits of bottles
projectile carelessness
crunching under foot
Which hill it is I don't care
But the people who do pay my bills
Hungry mouths open for more
Of the same old pills
Never enough
Never enough
Swallow more
Anything to know a secret
To be smarter than your friends
Pay me for the privilege
to pretend
I'd wait an age to die on this hill
Swaddled, suited, shrouded
Soaked in rage and draped in flags
Collecting a paycheck

I am definitely too square for how experimental this is, but I can imagine that if I was in the right state of mind, the section starting at 2:20 might transport me to another dimension - jeffhenderson

To Die on this Hill
The Mellfire Trifecta
When I was born
The birds did sing
So says my Mama
Who tells me everything
In church today
We joined Mom’s friend
They kissed each other
It never seemed to end
The bells that ring
Would mean something
To someone smarter
Smarterer than me
It’s always been
Just us two
No outsiders
“They’ll only make you blue”
When I was young
I knew just enough
To get myself into trouble
But Mama said I can’t be that kid
Who’d flee the scene on the double
Looking down over this town
Is my solitary thrill
But I think I’m smart enough today
Not to die on this hill
The Mellfire Trifecta
When I was born
The birds did sing
So says my Mama
Who tells me everything

No need to die upon this hill
No need to pull down all we've built
It's only your word against all of ours
And you've got to know that we hold all the power
No need to die upon this hill
We'll ruin your reputation
We won't stop until
We convince everybody that you lied
I can promise that we will ruin your life

To Die On This Hill
Berkeley Social Scene
I’ve been trying to find my way
I’ve been struggling, climbing up all day
The thinning trees leave me exposed
Undefended and alone
To die on this hill without you
Is not something I will do
Are you gonna make it soon
You were steps behind and now I feel marooned
Shots are ringing out below
Under attack? I don’t know
To die on this hill without you
Underneath the sky so blue
To die on this hill without you
Is not something I will do
They’re getting so much closer
Fast approaching to my spot
A quick prayer to get mind clear
I take cover to fix my shot
To die on this hill without you
Underneath the sky so blue

To Die On This Hill
Music - Critical Rave Theory
Lyrics - JJ
I wanted to touch the sky
That feeling of getting high
To climb until I could fly away
We did all that we could do
I don’t want to fight with you
The power’s yours to abuse
But I can’t bear to lose
Will I survive?
Can I make it alive?
Or is this the hill on which I die?
There’s nowhere but down
I’m losing my ground
Gone away

Re: To Die On This Hill WORDZ
Drifting on the ocean
Seen from miles away
I resemble nothing
But I will make a wave
I will never be still
I won’t give up so soon
I will die on this hill
You know I will
You know my will
Not gonna give up
Not gonna give up just yet
Not gonna give up
Not gonna give up just yet
I mean why not even try
I mean we only have one life to live
Seen from miles away
I resemble nothing
But I will make a wave
I will never be still
I won’t give up so soon
I will die on this hill
You know I will
You know my will
Not gonna give up
Not gonna give up just yet
Not gonna give up
Not gonna give up just yet
I mean why not even try
I mean we only have one life to live
