Cemetery Island

Cemetery Island
by Jerkatorium

Didn’t we take a charter to the isles
Sailed for hours, walked for miles
Raved among the gravestones for awhile
At the island cemetery
Or was it all imaginary
We danced around and smoked some of your stuff
then took that forest trail out to the bluffs

Do you remember tripping through the haze
Drifting embers, I remember
Lurching 'round like zombies in a daze
Arms outstretched before us
Stumbling towards the chorus
Inching towards the cliffside hand in hand
We saw it all but didn’t understand

Do you remember shifting in the drift
A dubious protagonist
Burning embers hovering in the mist
Fire in the ocean
Flashes and explosions
Secrets we’ll take with us to our graves
or die like wretched beasts beneath the waves
"I don't recommend ending on a bad joke." --ken

Cemetary Island - Paco del Stinko

Far out at sea
Where no man should be
Adrift on the brine
An island forgotten by time

Buried under the surf
And up to the top of the hill
Corpses lie under the dirt
Waiting and still

You can't get away from Cemetary Island
You can't escape and you'll die trying

I awoke on the shore - Naked and cold
Surrounded by tombstones - Granite and old

Graves as far as the eye can see
On an island that you cannot leave

The sea sounded a whisper - The earth gave a moan
The dirt moved aside - As all of the dead rose

A stranger makes land
Rotted flesh and cold hands
The fog mournfully cries
The dead claim their prize
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

Cemetery Island
by Lo-Jinx

Blame it on the early start, a choppy crossing on the ferry, or just two people in a very small hire car in bad traffic and worse weather; but we had been on edge on all morning and we only made it as far as the Aire St Denis before a big argument started. The rest area was deserted, so there was no-one else around to bear witness to the trigger to all-out war - some admittedly snide comment about our destination being more like a ‘cemetery’ island. In my defence it was meant to be a joke. When it was done, we returned to the car in silence, spending the rest of the journey – only another two hours though it felt like a day – pointedly not talking to each other. Louis had the advantage of needing to concentrate on the road in that weather whereas I just tilted my head and watched the flat French countryside roar past the passenger side window.

Our ‘romantic’ getaway was the tiny French Island of St Martin, only reachable from the mainland across a causeway at low tide. In reality and unmentioned in the ancient guidebook, this meant taking a series of ever worse roads, lanes and tracks all of which slowed us down and made us nervous we would miss our window to cross. At least as we were not speaking, I was spared the indignity of being snapped at for not reading out turns in the route fast enough.

Finally, we were rolling across the causeway at a ridiculous 5 miles per hour, water splashing at our tires just before the route disappeared under the waves. 'Cemetery island' was miniscule, barely big enough to hold a single street of houses topped by a small church, alongside the most sprawling cemetery I had ever borne witness to - a mosaic of white, beige and brown stone stretching in all directions to enclosing walls, tall enough to give the impression of battlements. Normally I would have sarcastically said this was hardly the most romantic getaway destination ever; but something about the quiet beauty of those gravestones called to me and caused me to hold my tongue; or maybe it was just because we were still not talking and God damn if I would be the first to break the silence.

Louis pulled up outside our chambre d’hote with a heavy sigh. I counted in my head to a minute - just long enough to put anxious doubt in his mind - then followed him to the front door. The owner was a woman in her forties, I would guess. Louis seemed to take a shine to her; pushing his glasses back onto his nose and watching her closely all the way up to the bedroom.

The room was gorgeous. Louis flopped down on the big, soft bed, and I was distracted by a stunning view of the cemetery through a crack in the shuttered windows.

I turned back to see Louis with his head halfway to his hands. His eyes flitted in my direction, though I should have realised his stare was focused beyond me, at the shuttered windows. His voice broke and he muttered a sentence, its sound trailing off into nothingness. “I am so sorry ….”

That was enough for me. I rushed to put my hand on his arm, to show him that the whole afternoon’s behaviour had been stupid, the side of the road was nothing compared to the love we had,; but my hand passed straight though the flesh of his arm, his thigh, then the sheets and mattress below. I gave a confused scream, that no-one could hear, or would ever again.

Cemetery Island
The Mellfire Trifecta

Sunshine abounds
As breezes yet blow
We come about
And bask in its glow
Rum’s in supply
And there’s laughter all around

Bounty is what we seek
On these shores
Then home again
To those we adore
Stick with the plan, boys
Soon we’ll be safe and sound

Be aware
Cemetery Island
Do you dare?
Cemetery Island

Boulders and cliffs
Not welcoming sights
We’ll sail to where
The sand is bone white
Sleep til the morn
There’s hope yet to spare

We wake to find
More bluffs and no sand
A vote will decide
If we will now land
More volunteers, boys
Or we can’t man the craft

Be aware
Cemetery Island
Do you dare?

The Magnetic Letters - Cemetery Island

Jeronimus Cornelisz is a naughty man
Before we string him up we'll chop off his hands
With a chisel and hammer
On Cemetery Island

You know how we know he's a naughty man?
There's arms and legs poking out of the sand
Those who survive tell a tale most foul of heresy, betrayal and murder

Hoist up the banner of the VOC
The gibbet is built, what's a little blood spilt in the name of this glorious company?
The crabs will make short work of what the blowflies leave behind
On Cemetery Island

Jan Polgrom is a naughty boy
With a glint in his eye he swore to destroy
As Cornelisz commanded
On Cemetery Island

You know what we do with naughty boys?
We hold them underwater and poke out their eyes
Until they're either dead or ready to talk
Hark! I hear him speaking

Come now, devils with your sacraments -
Where are you?
Who wants to be stabbed to death?
I can do that very beautifully

Fold up the banner of the VOC
We'll maroon this lad for being very bad
In the name of this glorious company
We will all be glad to weigh anchor and depart

Cemetery Island - WreckdoM

Can't buy a ticket to this island vacation
Unless you catch the latest zombie infection
They'll round you up and send you to the colony
The demented undead your final destiny

Welcome to Cemetery Island
One big club and the night life is wild
Come and have some fun
We're all bloated and rotten
We're gonna party till we die

Everyone said that this was gonna be hell
And they shipped us off to die
No one told us the afterparty
Zombie apocalypse - the time of our lives
We're fun-loving people with nothing to lose
Flush with talent and plenty of booze
And we amuse ourselves every day and night
Being undead there's so much more to life

Welcome to Cemetery Island
One big club and the night life is wild
Come and have some fun
We're all bloated and rotten
We're gonna party till we die

Welcome to Cemetery Island
One bangin' club and the night life is wild
All in one piece
Or losing a leg
Get on that dance floor or tap that keg

Welcome to Cemetery Island
One big club and the night life is wild
Come and have some fun
We're all bloated and rotten
We're gonna party till we die

Berkeley Social Scene

We’re going on vacation
We’ve made all the reservations
We’re going first class all the way
We’re excited for the places we will stay

Cemetery island
Good times are on the horizon
Can’t wait to see all of our friends
Waiting for us on cemetery island

We’ve been planning this trip for years
It’s long overdue I fear
We didn’t want to wait too long
To be somewhere we clearly belong

Cemetery island
Good times are on the horizon
Can’t wait to see all of our friends
Waiting for us on cemetery island

I can’t wait to get there
I can finally let down my hair
You don’t have to worry about what to wear
Just pack clean underwear
It will be the best time I swear
Just sitting in a rocking chair
Ignore the signs that say beware
Breathe that sweet cemetery air

It’s an exclusive club
You can only get there by private sub
Don’t miss your connection
People are dying to get in

Cemetery island
Good times are on the horizon
Can’t wait to see all of our friends
Waiting for us on cemetery island
