Poor June
lyrics:me (and three dog night for two lines in the second verse)
music:me

although today you seem barely changed
and though your eyes are tired, they show the samething
if we can help you feel good
we'll do what we can do..

the sun shines in all of the loneliest places
and all those towns have the loneliest faces
i wish i was so sure
but i'll shine on you, if my shine'll do

maybe one was the loneliest number
but sometimes 2 can be the loneliest too
there's a step we take across these lines
that will make our days non-existant at times

the sun shines in all of the loneliest places
and all those towns have the loneliest faces
i wish i was so sure
but i'll shine on you, if my shine'll do

count the stars hanging over our heads
read you poetries in a steelframe set
cut the chains that bind, all their hands are tied
we'll do what we can do..

the sun shines in all of the loneliest places
and all those towns have the loneliest faces
i wish i was so sure
but i'll shine on you, if my shine'll do

the sun shines
the sun shines
the sun shines
in all of the loneliest places

Weirdly, this is (one can assume accidentally, since you claim the lyric as yours) uncannily similiar to the chorus to a funky little tune that I don't know the name of, that is being used on a UK TV Advert at the moment ...

Just a heads up ...

the chorus i have no clue if it's similar to anything... but yea... that one is the loneliest number is part of a three dog night song... i twisted on that some... (i have no clue how similar it is...)... it's been forever since i've heard that particular song... but i'm pretty sure the second part is dif. if not i apologize haha... i'll have to re-find that song to check though...

"One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one" (Three Dog Night, One)

"maybe one was the loneliest number
but sometimes 2 can be the loneliest too " (Poor June, I wish I was So Sure)

Ah... Not so much re-twisting as appropriating whole-sale. :) Perhaps you should credit Harry Nilssen lest he sue?

Weird that should show up in the advert and next day, here. Anyhoo, now at least I know what that song is called.

I Wish I Was So Sure
Hostess Mostess

Noah said he heard the voice of God
Saying say goodbye to all your friends and get yourself to work
Review your engineering, learn to sail the seas
And a comprehensive book on zoology would never hurt.

So he quit his job and moved out to the country
Somehow got his wife and kids to up and come along
And at some point had to seal 'em all inside the great big boat
Now if that were me, it would have had to have been raining pretty hard

I wish I was so sure
I wish I was so sure
I wish I was so sure
I wish I was so sure

Mr. Edison sat for years in that chair
With a thousand metal filiments, chunks of hemotite
Zinc and copper alloys, even strands of human hair
'Cause one of those goddamned things was going to burn that bulb to light

I wish I was so sure
I wish I was so sure
I wish I was so sure
I wish I was so sure

Now you can't explain horizons to Columbus
Or religious rights of natives to Cortez
And what the hell did Shackelton hold in his hard head
'Cause when the sun goes down that deep,
Doesn't look like it's ever going to come back up again

Sir Isaac Newton solved the laws of gravity
Invented all our calculus, computed dates of kings of old
But he spent the better part of all his talent and his time
Desperately, futily trying to turn lead into gold

I wish I was so sure
I wish I was so sure
I wish I was so sure
I wish I was so sure

late lyrics, but, what the 'ell. Anything titled "Ye Olde" deserves attention...

(this song's simply about going out for a smoke at a show and the random political discussion that ensues outside, with random people...and, of course everyone is just so gaadamn sure they know what it's all about, war, peace, the whole nine. HA.)

Pretty soon it's gonna be coming down, that feeling
some of us are gonna get up and get down to it
step outside, pull out a pack, lean on the wall and sift one out
matches or a lighter, just flickin' it

taking a big pull like it was the first time in ten years
taking it in, and loving it
just one more time, nasty habit
might teach you a lesson you'll never forget

wouldn't it be such a good dream?
to never worry
wouldn't we be free

wish i could be so sure this world wasn't turning to disaster
wish I could get inside yours

so "aye-aye" to the world, inside for a weekend
as long as sharks come and go, we're doin' alright
Larry by your side and only Al and the boardroom to understand
giving it a big wind and the whole nine

wouldn't it be such a good dream?
to never worry
wouldn't we be free

wish i could be so sure this cough isn't turning into cancer
wish i could find the cure
wish we could see through woes, dividing up everything we stand for
wish we wouldn't be so sure
(so sure)

This are great lyrics. I'm psyched that you won this fight, especially after reading these words!
