Circle of Titles IV lyric-thread

Expressly Prohibited by Heuristics Inc.

I was sitting in the park one day soaking up the sun
I was wearing my bills jersey cause we had played and won
A guy came up to me and asked me if I saw the game
I said I did but that’s enough - if it’s all the same

He wondered what would make me go and say some thing like that
No offense, nothing personal, keeping my
voice flat
They laid down a proscription on accounts and descriptions
They took away my rights to disseminate transcriptions

Expressly prohibited
My freedom's inhibited
I can't say anything to you
I saw it on the tv
I know that they can see me
They can't say a thing that isn't true

I'm sure the nfl has got undercover spies
Roaming round the streets entrapping unsuspecting guys
And if I tell then you will tell and then I bet they'll sue
And if they really don't like me I'd go to jail for you

Behind the Times
by Jon Eric
from a title suggested by Jan Krueger

The way you tie your garter
The way you take your Scotch
How you put down your dead tree book to check your watch

I never knew that you could be so wrong
Clenching your muscles when the wind gets strong
You want somebody who can bring you bliss
But doesn't exist...

(chorus)
I won't put my life on hold
I'm gonna get back on track
I won't live behind the times
No more holding me back...

The way I check my Facebook
The way I multitask
You say I hide behind my phone like it's a mask

I never knew that you could be so blind
The vegetarian that chose to kill
I can't believe that you'd miss all the signs
I'm dropping them still

(chorus, solo, chorus)

I think my lyrics are pretty easy to hear... but...

Shades of Paranoia

[Instrumental intro]

V1: It's such a subtle twist
that makes the context switch
and suddenly an unscratched itch
has grown into a fever pitch

Now all the joy I've known
is hiding in the past
and my thoughts are coming fast
Oh I wonder if I'll last

Chorus: Shades of paranoia
are coloring my mind
The threads of reality
are starting to unwind
Shades of paranoia
are coloring my mind
But just one familiar face
could help me ease my mind

V2: The overwhelming weight
of all eternity
is hanging over me
Now that I have the eyes to see

I want to run away
but I have nowhere to go
I'm afraid of what I know
I'm becoming my own foe

[Chorus/Instrumental Bridge/Chorus]

Nick Soma - Diggin' the Dog

NOTE: The dog in this song (refered to as "he" in the lyric) is a metaphor for the narrator's mental illness which helps his on/off girlfriend (the lyric's "you") to exercise control over him.
The line with the "tail your head has swallowed" refers to the Ouroboros, an ancient depiction of a snake eating its own head.
Upon being finished with the song, though, I realized that some parts of it (the aforementioned line, in particular) sound pervy, and it might just as well be about oral sex. You decide.

------------------------------------------------------

He came straight out of nowhere, started diggin' a hole
Not in the ground below, oh no, instead he chose my soul
I damned that dog at first and tried to make him go away
But now those times are over and I hope he's gonna stay

'Cuz now I'm diggin' the dog that dug all these holes in my soul
And I fancy my chances with your zombie self
I'm waggin' the dog with the tail your head has swallowed
And I'm someone else, now I'm someone else, now I'm someone else

You handed him a bone and gave a pat upon his head
Your most beloved doggie from the lines of the undead
'Cuz he's so much like you, you say, eatin' at my soul
You'd love to feed on it until you've eaten up the whole

But now I'm diggin' a hole to bury that dog that dug down into my soul
I now fancy my chances with somebody else
I'll stop waggin' the dog with the tail
That I used for waggin' the dog but which your head has swallowed
And I'm by myself, now I'm by myself, all by myself

I kind of miss the times we spent together
I kind of dug the way he dug in me
I kind of think it could've lasted forever
I kind of think that's how my life should be

And so I'm excavatin' the dog that dug all these holes in my soul
Again I fancy my chances with your zombie self
And still I'm waggin' the dog with the tail your head has swallowed
And I'm someone else, now I'm someone else, now I'm someone else.

Sockpuppet - Adding Up to Nothing

your head is in the cloud
you don't know who you are
try to do everything you can
spread yourself too far

everything you want to know
how to come undone
boiling over, time to kill
in the frozen sun

everything that we used to know
has a zero sum
ice cubes in the goldfish bowl
where we've come undone

nerves of tissue, mind of steel
sleep until we're dead
warm the soul with antifreeze
a frozen mind instead

Jump In My Car by Jan Krüger, as not reinterpreted by David Hasselhoff

Hey kid, what you doin' here
All off the beaten track and no one's near
There's no need to be alone
I'll be glad to take you home right now

Jump in my car
Jump in my car
No need to walk or stay right where you are
Jump in my car
Jump in my car
Sit in my car, that way it's not as far

I need some music late at night to stay awake
Why don't you turn on the radio, I'm up for anything
Oh, really, you like hard rock? So do I

I think there is some beer left in that box there on the floor
It's fairly strong, but that's the way I like it... take some more
Don't worry, I won't tell a soul
When I drop you off in a moment now

Jump in my car
Jump in my car
Just sit back and relax, it's not far
Jump in my car
Jump in my car
I'll be right back, just stay right where you are

I just have to get a few things
It will take just a minute
Just a little detour
Not a problem, I'm sure

Aren't you glad
You jumped in my car
What a ride it was, now here we are
Everything went according to plan
Don't you agree we'll have to do this again

"All the best things are pretend" by Bad Boys at Bat Mitzvahs

As I sit and lay awake in bed
Will I find trouble there
When all the worst things are pretend,
And I'm troubled
Then, its coming over me
The covers seem to creep up slowly
My friend told me so
It happened once again
The beast under my bed gets angry
My friend its only in my head
Pretend its only in my head.
Now your words keep me awake in bed
And you're in trouble when
All of the best things are pretend
And I am troubled
Then its coming over me
Ideas seem to creep in slowly
My friend told me so
It happened once again
The beast under my skin gets angry
My friend tell me go
Its all inside your head
The beast is just pretend
Pretend its all in my head
