September
September
When I was a kid, I used to hate Labor Day
Knew I'd be put in uncomfortable clothes
Trapped in a hot room, forced to listen to
Some boring guy talk about integers
Each afternoon run the beach past the cove
Where all the hot girls in bikinis hang out
I pretend I'm not looking, they pretend they don't see me
Run til my feet start to bleed
Sprint in the shore pound, the spray of the ocean
So the sweat and the water hide my tears of emotion
I don't want to go back to that dreadful place
Summer, why are you leaving me?
August, why do you always have to end?
September
September, you're not my friend
No longer a kid, now I work in a cube
Stuck in a tie, and a suit, and dress shoes
Vacation's too short, forced to listen to
Some boring guy talk about PowerPoint
[Repeat verse 2]
[Repeat pre-chorus]
[Repeat chorus 2x]
September you're not my friend
Knew I'd be put in uncomfortable clothes
Trapped in a hot room, forced to listen to

SEPTEMBER TOBY ROKTOT
v1. I WAS SACKING GROCERIES AT THE CITY MARKET … A SLEEPY MOUNTAIN TOWN
IT WAS SUMMER, SLOPES WERE BARE, NOT MANY TOURISTS AROUND
MAKIN’ AFTERNOON DELIVERIES ….SHE CAUGHT MY EYE, …..SO HOT
SHE WAS OLDER, MORE MATURE …..BUT WHEN YOU’RE SIXTEEN THAT HAPPENS A LOT…yeah,,
v2. THE WAY SHE LOOKED, HER VOICE, NEVER FELT LIKE THIS BEFORE
SOMETHING STIRRING INSIDE, … FEELINGS I COULDN’T IGNORE
SHE ASKED IF I’D LIKE TO HAVE … SOMETHING COOL TO DRINK
I ASKED HER NAME AS SHE HANDED ME THE GLASS.. AND GAVE ME KNOWING WINK
CHORUS
SHE CALLED HERSELF SEPTEMBER, I DIDN’T REALLY UNDERSTAND
THERE WAS SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT HER, SHE TOOK MY HAND
SHE PUT A SMILE ON MY FACE, A MEMORY, THAT’LL NEVER GO AWAY
AFTERNOON DELIVERIES, SEPTEMBER… ASKED ME TO STAY
v3. DAYS OF SUMMER, RACED AWAY FOR MY SECRET LOVER AND ME
SHE SHOPPED AT THE MARKET IN THE MORNING, I MADE AFTERNOON DELIVERIES
YOU MAY THINK SHE WAS TAKING ADVANTAGE, mmm.. IT FELT SO RIGHT
WE WERE HAVING A BALL, SHE WAS SHOWING ME ALL, HER CARNAL KNOWLEDGE AT NIGHT…yeah
v4. FALL CHILL IN THE AIR, TIME TO SAY GOODBYE
SEPTEMBER HAD TO LEAVE, FELT MY HEART WOULD DIE
SHE KISSED ME ....TENDERLY, SAID "INNOCENT HEARTS MEND"
I HELD HER CLOSE, WHISPERED HOPE, WE COULD BE TOGETHER AGAIN
BRIDGE
I NEVER HEARD FROM MY LOVER, MEMORIES WERE ALL I COULD HOLD
A FEW YEARS LATER, SAW AN OLD MAGAZINE, SEPTEMBER WAS THE CENTERFOLD
CHORUS
SHE WAS MISS SEPTEMBER, SHE TURNED THE LAD INTO A MAN
THERE WAS SOMETHING SO SPECIAL ABOUT HER….NOW I UNDERSTAND
SHE PUT A SMILE ON MY FACE, A MEMORY THAT’LL NEVER GO AWAY
THAT MONTH OF JUNE, MISS SEPTEMBER ASKED ME TO STAY

Re: September
September
by Berkeley Social Scene
[Intro]
[Verse 1]
Do you remember
October through December?
Could you have guessed it
When we met in September?
[Pre-Chorus]
Now we're holding hands
And we're seeing bands
It’s all so grand
Now we're holding hands
It’s all so grand
[Chorus]
It started in September
A flame from an ember
We will always remember
Just last September
[Intro]
[Verse 2]
Could it be any sweeter?
Autumn turned to winter
We hid in candle lit rooms
Drinking wine by the space heater
[Pre Chorus]
Now we're holding hands
And we're seeing bands
It’s all so grand
Now we're holding hands
It’s all so grand
[Chorus]
It started in September
A flame from an ember
We will always remember
Just last September
[Verse 3 / Solo]
[Pre Chorus]
Now we're holding hands
And we're seeing bands
It’s all so grand
Now we're holding hands
It’s all so grand
[Chorus]
It started in September
A flame from an ember

Re: September
when I saw your eyes
I was cannibalized
you ate my heart
and left me a shadow of my mind
remember september
you ate me up and
I ate you down
then I realized
love's been legalized
you gave me heat so
I could burn down all my lies
remember september
you ate me up and
I ate you down
(instrumental)
remember september
you ate me up and
I ate you down
remember september
you ate me up while
I ate you down
remember september
I was cannibalized
you ate my heart
and left me a shadow of my mind
remember september

September (lyrics)
Holly Furlone
September came as quickly as I did
To the conclusion that [all we are] is haunted
By dreams
that used to sit me up straight in the middle of the night
Now I
Scream at the top of my lungs, "am I ever gonna get it right"
September, you came and went with no one carin'
Like being written off before our chance could set in...
To make it...
September came as quickly as I did
To the conclusion that [all we are] is haunted
By dreams
that used to sit me up straight in the middle of the night
Now I
Scream at the top of my lungs, "am I ever gonna get it right"
Get it right
Scream at the top of my lungs, "am I ever gonna get it right"

Re: September
Every September I always fall in love
Every September it's never quite enough
End up broken hearted as the weather's turning cold
Every September I always lose my soul
Leaves on the trees are all turning brown
Soon like my heart they'll all be on the ground
Every September it's never quite enough
End up broken hearted as the weather's turning cold
Every September I always lose my soul
Leaves on the trees are all turning brown
Soon like my heart they'll all be on the ground

Balance Lost
I get bored so soon I'll have to leave
So don't waste your time with me, I will forget you
It meant so much one day but now
You just distract me from whatever my attention has found
OOOoooooOOOooooOOooOOOh
A hand-me-down-mattress on a hand-me-down bed
Trees showing off the leaves they're about to shed
A hand-me-down-mattress on a hand-me-down bed
Some pieces of me missing
So many love songs, never been in love
Tentatively share the things that I've covered up
So many love songs, never been in love
Some pieces of me missing
Some pieces of me missing
I'll take whatever heat remains
Not much I'll do about it now
I'll take whatever heat remains
Not much I'll do about it now
I get bored so soon I'll have to leave
So don't waste your time with me, I will forget you
September's disappearing fast
You're just distraction from whatever was hoping would last

September
the end of summer is in september
but it's still summer in the south
in the northeast, the nights a colder but
sweaters used to make me sweat it out
I was so warm blooded then
My first kiss in the summer
on the dance floor at a camp in maine
was so embarassed when they told me that
to kiss a girl you gotta bring her by the lake
I was so warm blooded then
I thought I'd know by now
Mom's dad died that september
and we sat shiva at his house
in the northeast with my cousins
had to wear a coat when we went out
I was so warm blooded then
I thought I'd know by now
the end of summer is in september
but it's still summer in the south

Re: September
I still remember
that day in September
when I saw you in your yellow dress
you came over
and asked me to dance
how could I say anything but yes
the stars danced around us
as we waltzed on the moon
you didn't laugh when
I stepped on your foot
just when I started
to learn all the moves
the song ended
oh, it ended too soon
*if you ask me to wait
I'll wait for you
if you ask me to go
I'll go to you
I'll be waiting for you, I swear
if you come, you'll always find me there
I still remember
that day in December
when I saw you in your blue dress
you came over
and gave me a smile
as you held my ring to your chest
the stars danced around us
as we waltzed on the moon
you didn't laugh when
I stepped on your foot
just when I started
to learn all the moves
the song ended
oh, it ended too soon
*if you ask me to wait
