Is it ever OK to sing and put the emphasis on the "wrong" syllable of a word?

I'm curious about this as this comes up often in reviews.

"Jimi did it so I do it" isn't a choice, but it should be.

Meh. I put Yes if it's intentional, but to be honest, it doesn't really bother me unless it's really stupid sounding. Pronunciation bothers me more... but even then... I probably prefer pronunciation that non (North Eastern (minus Boston/Rhode Island) hehe) American English speakers probably hate. :P

Very Texan. Also consider if you are buying insurance in Burnet, Texas, you would be buying IN-surance in BURN-it Texas.

I remember coming home one summer and my mother told me I had a Texan drawl. I'd been down there a bit more than two months immersed in the culture. It was as close as I came to being a foreign exchange student.

I mean, yes if it's intentional, but I also might not like it so I guess I assume you're ok with that. Why wouldn't you be? Unless you hoped I would be, in which case, uh, sorry?

I think something that bothers me more is being too slavish to a melodic rhythm at the expense of natural-sounding prosody. That always bugs me.

It's responding to old threads day! Yes, totally fine. I get particularly frustrated as an international when people tell me I'm pronouncing something incorrectly. Am I? Am I? Am I really? I mean, Taylor Swift and I pronounce "trapeze" completely differently and I've made peace with that.
