Re: Naming a Band
The reason Uncle Kracker is called Uncle Kracker is because when he tried touring as just Kracker, the rock band Cracker sued him.Reïst wrote: ps - I'm wondering - if there's a band called Trash, would I get in trouble for calling my band TrasH?
So... yeah, you'll probably get in trouble.
Maybe... Platinum Trash? You'd have the euphony of the assonance there, though perhaps the word "platinum" should be forbidden for use in any rock band name.
Keep brainstorming, Reist. You'll get it.

Re: Naming a Band
what about "umm..."
I came up with it last night in a bout of stream-of-consciousness brainstorming. It doesn't seem to be taken, and it's still representational of where I'm coming from, but less literal than honestogod or frank.

It's one of those troublesome names - like when the "Brown Boxes" fight rolled around, and I was listening to Jim of Seattle's pseudonym track, and my brother asked "Hey, who is this?"
"I Dunno, Some Guy."
"Well, who? Look it up."
Can you imagine if someone were to inquire about you, Reist?
"Hey, this is pretty good. Who is it?"
"umm..."
[awkward pause]
"...Yeah? Who?"
Plus, it totally fails the stadium announcer test.

haha, I see where you're going with that. But I'm sticking with it for now. All my other ideas have failed.

Yeah, don't take too seriously the advice of any one person here (myself included). After all, you can't please all the people all the time.

Band name alert. Death Erection
After the untimely death of David Carradine (R.I.P.) I became more curious about the origins of autoerotic asphyxiation. "The intertubes are rotting my brain" will be the title track of the first album.

Time to resurrect this thread. Since I've recently joined Facebook (go ahead, look me up) I've noticed that the text verifications for friend requests form interesting band names / album / song titles. The latest:
Cumberland Velveeta
I've got to start writing these down.

Re: Naming a Band
Before we decided on calling ourselves "Can't Talk, Bye!" my band had the idea that we should call ourselves something that would mess with an announcer, such as:
Go Home
You All Suck
Suck It
Etc.
So when we get introduced at a show the announcer would have to say "Ladies And Gentlemen... Go Home!", lol
and here's a random name this guy I knew once wanted to call a band: "Lunchbox Circumsion". Ow.

I've got a better idea. You go in there and talk to him. I'm going home. http://www.facebook.com/#/pages/REFLEKT ... 011?ref=nf
