Donate a simple project?

Post by starfinger »

Hi!
long time no see, happy new year, etc...

I'm advising some computer science students that are building a streaming audio project mixer. We're working with OMF files (exportable from Sonar and others), since it is a simple and open format..

I wonder if anybody could hook me up with a simple multitrack recording in this format for testing?

Something with 6-8 tracks, (staggered clip times, multiple clips per track at least on some of the tracks, and no plugins in use) would be perfect. I don't want to subject these students to have to critically listen to any of my songs, and I don't have any programs installed currently that can export these files anyway!

If somebody can get me one of these files, I promise to songfight before the end of February....

Id be happy to help. But my Cubase DAW only offers wav, aif, mp3, rm and wma for exporting formats. Sorry. Someone else here I'm sure can export in OMF. Good luck.

I can export an OMF file from Cubase. I'm just not sure what would be best. I'll have to look at a few different projects and maybe simplify. Most BSS songs have 16ish tracks.

Cool. I'll find a song that fits your criteria, unless you have a favorite you'd like.

Also, for your song, I'd like you to make an Otalgia song with Lunkhead! ;)

that's awesome, ken -- thanks!

I'd love to do an Otalgia song again, but I can only promise that I'll submit *something* by the end of Feb...

Got the project all set up, but I'm having issues exporting the OMF file. Sent you an email to the email listed on your facebook profile. Hopefully, we can work this out.

Just saw this thread. If Logic has an OMF export I'll try to put something together for you - I have some pretty simple projects these days.

Fluffy, that's generous. We have Ken's song now, but I expect they may want some more test cases at some point.. I'll let you know!

It looks like Logic no longer has OMF exporting (but it used to). Would separate .wav tracks be fine? I've actually put a lot of my recent songs up on ccMixter.
