Re: Abbey Road Studio tour
I wish that the "about these microphones" bit had example recordings made through them.
I also found a lot of it to be cheezy but it was nice to wander around the studio. I wish they had sound for some of the crazier parts, though, like the echo chamber.

If you start in Studio Two...
Go to the map and look for a green dot. It's the Audio Recording tour, I think.
It DOES go into the echo chamber, and you can hear it. The things people had to do. Also, as they're walking throu the different rooms on tours, you can hear how the ambient sound is different. And then there are all those panels they can flip to change the rooms acoustics.
Different mic with the same recording input would probably be so subtle?

Re: Abbey Road Studio tour
Ah, I didn't find that tour. I'll check it out.
I can't help but wonder if they actually recorded those audio tour segments in the rooms themselves, or if they were all recorded in an isolation booth and then post-processed to sound like the actual room. Something about the reverbs doesn't sound quite right to me, especially with how the voice is always right up close to the microphone.

It would be easier to record it all in an isolation booth, but WAY COOLER to record it at location. They may have done some of both...
