The Endless Song Fight (Jukebox) Playlist

Post by Lunkhead »

A couple months ago Pandora started up a playlist where one artist picks another artist's song to add to the list, then, the picked artist goes next and pick's another artist's song to add, and so on.

https://www.thatericalper.com/2020/10/2 ... -and-more/

https://www.pandora.com/playlist/PL:844 ... 1756780791

Maybe we could do something like that for Song Fight?! We could have it happen here on the boards and I could make a playlist on the Song Fight Jukebox as the songs are chosen. The Pandora playlist has voice tracks with the artists talking about the other artist and song that they picked, which we can't do in the Jukebox playlist, so, that would have to happen here in text, which is slightly less exciting. But it might still be fun.

If anybody wants to give it a try I could go first and pick somebody. We'd need to I guess limit ourselves to picking folks who are either active or are reachable and able and interested in participating, which could be a little tricky.

Yeah, that's a bit tricky... maybe someone could pick a song/artist and then nominate a 2nd song/artist that is active to do the next pick? So, 1 to 2 songs with the 2nd being active...?

OK, to start, I picked "Hero Points" by Ken. I also forgot that I have the Jukebox set up to require at least two songs on a playlist so I put one of my songs on as the first song.

I'm going to choose Abecedarian's A Promise is a Promise next. This is a really great song by a talented and nice guy. They've entered under a handful of different names, but this is the track that hooked me.

Awesome! I've added that song. Now to try to track Sean down and see if he wants to participate.

Hi all, thanks for including me. There are so many tracks from songfight that I love. I haven't been around as much as I would like to have been, so I don't know who still participates, but I'd be shocked if you guys couldn't reach John.

Sorry I'm so late to this party!

Remember how great it was to have Octothorpe in fights all the time? I love Octothorpe. I remember how delighted I was, ten years ago (!) when they popped up after a while for Crush. It's a really fun song. I crush cans! So there you have it. Crush by Octothorpe

I have picked Frankie Big Face's "Crinkle Binkle". Our take was penned by Mad Dog, who was shall we say, less than subtle in his approach to political lyricism. It's basically just "BUSH STINKS" at full volume with a quiet song around it to get to turn your volume up before the punchline hits you.

Frankie's version is uncharacteristically silly for Frankie, but exquisitely executed. The lyrics are almost Octothorpian, but the overall effect is as if Octothorpe actually knew how to write music, has some sense of song structure, and could sing. In other words, nothing like Octothorpe at all. This song inspires me to better things, and I love it and Frankie for that.

Thanks for the shout-out Geoff, and you may not to wait much longer for anothe Octothorpe hit. I have written lyrics for several recently, and I am cleaning up the studio...

Hey everyone. Thanks for thinking of me, Spud.

I’ll choose “Hotel” by ADD. I’ve always liked this song. It’s short and rough around the edges. Just like Jeff! No, but seriously, it’s a song and I like it.

hey cool! Thanks, Jeffff...
Sorry for the delay -- I just heard about this today. I'm going to go with my initial reaction which is one of my favorite Heuristics Inc songs "Soft Orange Glow". Great atmosphere and sounds. Kinda krautrocky. Good lyrics. A+

Anybody know how to get a hold of Carol Cleveland Sings? Because "Brown Boxes" would probably be my pick... if not I can try to remember something else!
