I just bought Our Lady Peace: Clumsy.
It is awesome. There will be OLP influence in my music for the rest of my life, I think.

Good choice. Happiness... Is Not A Fish That You Can Catch is also really awesome; it's the album that got me listening to OLP and it's all I listened to for the first half of grade 7.Reïst wrote:I just bought Our Lady Peace: Clumsy.

Haven't heard that name in a long time. I remember really liking "Superman's Dead". He kind of sings like Billy Corgan.

Big Wreck's "...In Loving Memory Of"
A friend gave me this CD like 7 years ago. For some reason, I have resisted listening to it until today. Sure, I've heard their 3 or 4 radio singles, and liked them fine, but never went further than that. All i can say is that this is, for a debut album, pretty damned jaw-dropping. Absolutely beautiful. Ian Thornley is an incredible singer, guitar player, and songwriter. And he's Canadian!

But Raine Maida is a lot easier to listen to than Billy Corgan.Billy's Little Trip wrote:He kind of sings like Billy Corgan.

Just bought Silverchair's Neon Ballroom and Incubus' A Crow Left of the Murder. I can't believe I didn't listen to Incubus when they were together.

Pony Express Record by Shudder to Think.
Thanks a lot, anti-m, for reminding me about this band by putting them in your GoM picks. I remember the first time I ever saw the X-French Teeshirt video on Much Music (the canadian equiv. of MTV I guess) back in like 1995. I thought 'Holy shit is that singer ever gay' but more importantly 'Holy shit is this song cool'
What a great album.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
The New Radicals - Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too. They're sometimes lumped in with the glut of white twenty-somethings who topped the chart with mainstream hits in the mid-90s (Smash Mouth, Matchbox 20, Third Eye Blind, and so on), but this album stands out as a lot funkier than its contemporaries, and has a high level of energy that gives even the less well-written songs on the album a sense of urgency.
I like it.

I remember listening to You Get What You Give in elementary school. Good song.Generic wrote:The New Radicals
I'm currently (re-)listening to Enema of the State by Blink 182. It's no secret that I love Blink but I recently wrote a review for this album and I almost forgot how much I love it. I also dug out The Sinister Urge by Rob Zombie. He makes awesome movies as well as cool music. Go figure.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
I vaguely remember mentioning this. But I have a their Cheshire Cat CD that only says Blink, right before they had a court order to pull all the CDs out of circulation and changed their name to Blink 182. I got it at a Billibong event that they played. They where great and I bought the CD. A week later they got sued and had to change their name. How much do you think it's worth on ebay?himynameisntmark wrote:I remember listening to You Get What You Give in elementary school. Good song.Generic wrote:The New Radicals

I never knew they were called just Blink. That's neat. Might not be a bad idea to get up on E-Bay and see what you can get.
From spoken word to actual singing, I can screw up any style with style.

I had the video, the SUXX EP and I thought I had the Green Jello Cereal Killer soundtrack but according to wikipedia there was no such thing but I swear the long version had Jello on it too. The only thing I still have is the EP, but its not in a case, other than my CD book carrying case thing, and I doubt anyones buying a loose CD.Billy's Little Trip wrote:You know what's also weird, I have a first press run of the band Green Jello and the same thing happened and they had to pull all they albums and change their name to green jelly. I think I pretty much drove everyone insane by randomly breaking out into "*deepvoice* Little pig, little pig, let me in! *highvoice* Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin!" for no reason other than it'd just always pop into my head when I wasn't listening to the EP, which seemed like a very rare occurance for a while there.

Wasn't it the coolest metal, plus happiness, EVER? I remember thinking, damn, these guys are just being completely sarcastic, but playing some of the best fucking metal I've ever heard. Of course, because they were being so glib, they would never be taken serious. They were one level up in seriousness from Spinal tap, whom I also love.Chadderandom wrote:I had the video, the SUXX EP and I thought I had the Green Jello Cereal Killer soundtrack but according to wikipedia there was no such thing but I swear the long version had Jello on it too. ....Hmmm, I also love White Gold. I'm starting to see a pattern.
...Plus we were talking about Blink, whom are also very sarcastic yet bad ass fucking rockers.
....where am I going with this? I'm a tad fdrinked.

Cake: Comfort Eagle
Nirvana: In Utero
Kanye West: 808s and Heartbreaks
Only listened to the first two, since I just bought these yesterday. Pretty good so far ... Cake has yet to do me wrong.
