I think the main obstacle is that a supergroup needs a worthy name

Also @Mark, don't be so shy, you bring the RAWK better than most humans dare dream

Late to the party!
Can't remember how I found the place, but so glad I did.
The first fight I took part in was 'The Puppet's Dream' back in 2004.
The last was 'The Elements Of Style' in 2006. So it's been a long while.
Took part in a load of sidefights, the first Nur Ein, and Songfight Live UK in 2004.
2009 got a band together and recorded an album three times - twice we had hard drive failures.
2010 finished 'Dealing With Liquids' - available at all good corner stores.
Chuffed to be back!

I think I came up with a good supergroup name: Uberschnauzerhösen

Say it a few times; really rolls off the tongue!

Wow, it's incredible how long it's been around.

I first started assaulting the ears of this community back in 2009, but was too dense to realize there were boards until 5 years later. I know I've been telling people in my life how cool the idea behind the site was since I first found it, but I didn't truly understand the beauty of it until I actually joined the community. On again-off again, I submitted songs and reviews every couple of years. I won (as part of a 3 way tie) only one of these, Day of the Dead, and it remains one of my proudest compositions/songs.

Now, I'm a grown-up and and fortunate enough to live near my brother who now has all the zeal I once had in learning to record and produce. Between that and a life with free time (outside of the service industry), I'm really excited to become a proper member of the community and start actually getting to know people/getting known myself. Basically, I look forward to the next 20 years of SongFight!

Oh god I've been here for over 20 years now

I found songfight.com when A B C D Puppies was up for the vote, and Zero 2 Phantom was the open title (and it was the first one open to the public, before that it was an invite-only format). At the time I was visiting my parents for winter break and didn't have any of my recording gear (such as it was) with me, so I didn't enter until I LOVE YOU a couple weeks later.

The history of the actual dates is pretty hazy from back then so I don't know when I actually recorded and submitted, but it was pretty much exactly 20 years ago now.

You'd think I'd have made more music in that time and won more than three fights, but whatevs. This place is great. I can't imagine still being here in another 20 years but, gosh, I don't think I'd have expected myself to still be here now 20 years ago (much less this place still going along).

None of the other sites I regularly visited back then are still around, either. Well, except Diesel Sweeties. Somehow that comic's still going. Jeeze.

Flying to San Francisco to meet weird internet people for the first Song Fight Live, organized by MC Frontalot IIRC at a defunct place called "Hot Lunch".

Went to the SongFight! presents in late 2003 at that weird venue above in an industrial neighborhood near 280 (is my recollection?). I remember Brother Machine rocking the house, and Son of Supercar being so loud they forced half the crowd outside. Epic.
Since we are writing down our history, I need to point out that this is the same venue. Called Hot Lunch and later, the Accordion.

Attended a show in Berkeley a few months later (anyone remember that one?) where I think Lunkhead played Rhodes for MC Frontalot?
This was likely at Belladona, an arts and healing space Erin was involved with. We put on a few shows there before the cops got wise, or they closed. I forget which.

Ken
Last night was 20 years since that fabled show at the Accordion.

RIP Blue Lang and Brother Machine.
