Alright...2 and a 1/2! I guess with the other guys, I took their material and ruined it, with you I was more of a guest star. Maybe with your new set-up we'll be able to try something more from the bottom up one day. Hmmm? (none of this is a complaint, by the way)
I can take a hint, you hate my writing style. *storms out of the room crying like a girl*

I feel like just a wee baby posting this, but here we go. If 'It Belongs to Me', and my 'S_ rock' song that wasn't entered counts, my first year's SongFight count is ...

2006 - 20

With the 2 Nur Ein songs, my personal rone and 15-16 puzzle covers, 6 workaday skirmishes, and 14 AAW songs, the grand songfight-related total would be ...

2006 - 44

I'm not counting completely-unrelated-to-songfight songs. What a great year it's been, at least for me.

Somebody mentioned something about resolutions to me the other day, so I thought I would check in and see how I was doing, while I still had some time left in the year.
Lunkhead wrote:1. Really get a new job (pursue my connection at Pandora more, specifically).
2. Travel around the East coast.
3. Enter at least 3 SongFight! songs as Lunkhead (a little more realistic this time), and maybe try to do an AAD (not so realistic).
4. Collaborate more, hopefully with Glenn Case, and as Otalgia again, and do more songs with Merisan and Tiny Robots.
5. Go to SongFight! live, and play 1-3 other SongFight! related shows.
6. Have a good 30th birthday party in a few weeks, and have a better New Year's Eve at the end of the year.
Results so far:

1. I got offered a good job, but ultimately I felt like it wasn't the right fit for me. Also my current employer made me a great counter offer, and they fixed some things that had been bugging me. Also we got Guitar Hero II in the office. So all in all, I'm much happier, even though I haven't gotten a new job.
2. Just got back from doing this.
3. I guess I should start focusing on this...
4. So far I haven't collab'ed with Glenn, or as Otalgia, but I did seven songs with Erin for Nur Ein II. I would like to do some more Tiny Robots before the year is out.
5. I'm probably not going to SF! Live, but I did play four shows in a week for SF! Tour.
6. 30th birthday party was awesome. Got to start cooking up plans for a New Year's 2008 party...

This year is going much better for me so far, in terms of meeting my resolutions. How about for everybody else?

Wow - I hadn't realised I'd gotten so slack! (I'll blame Nur Ein and SF!Live)

OK - resolution - 19 songs for 2007!

...so, that leaves me at roughly 13 songs for the year, in mid July. I guess that puts me on track for my target of 19 songs for the year. Very unlikely I will reach 19 actual Songfight! entries for Caravan Ray this year - but that can be easily blamed on the Fightmaster's slow turnaround times rather than any failing on my part.

OK - so the end of year wrap up is:

9 Songfight entries for Caravan Ray
01/09/07 A Woman On Paper
02/01/07 Convalescence
02/12/07 Get A Life
03/07/07 Couldn't Have Been Worse
04/23/07 Clause 5, Sub-Paragraph d)
06/06/07 The Sugar Shaker
07/12/07 Ottoman
07/27/07 So Weird
10/15/07 Baby, Be Quiet

6 Tex Beaumont songs for Nur Ein
Let Me In
Sister Cocaine
Brownie Points
No One Else
State Of Emergency
The Thing Most Easily Forgotten

2 Tuneflow entries for Caravan Ray
The Guy In The Mirror
One Foot Out The Door

1 Purple Reign entry for Caravan Ray
So Blue

7 songs on Album-A-Week - Nude Alien Euro-Disco for Vegans
by Caravan Ray

Dirty Secret
So Weird
Save A Pony From The Glue Factory
Andre Was Here At Midnight
Le Funkydisco
Sunglasses and a Smile
I Love You

That's a sub-total of 25 - subtract 3 because No One Else and Sugar Shaker were the same song, as were So Blue and One Foot Out The Door and So Weird appeared both in Songfight and on the AAW.

So, a total of 22 new songs for 2007!

I think I can call that New Years Resolution (19 songs for 2007!) - RESOLVED!

Add to that:

2 Songfight entries for Lyricburglar (lyrics stolen from Spoons and MCEric B), as well as a Heuristics cover for the Total Request Coverfight and a Thomas Dolby cover version for Roymond in the GoM, which were effectively Lyricburglar efforts with all new music for existing lyrics, a Hell Yeahs hxaro, a Velvet Underground cover and a Bloc Party remix - I seem to have done a pretty good job in avoiding real work and family responsibilities this year!

I just dug this thread up last week when somebody else started the year in review thread. Here's my update, mostly for my own personal edification:

Original resolutions:
End of year update:
1. Job situation was still fairly tolerable through the end of the year. We later got GHIII, then briefly had Rock Band, both of which were fun, especially Rock Band. I've already got a new project working on a topic that's of interest to me, so that's good. I'll be finishing my fourth year at this job in February, though, which is a really long time to stay at a programming job.
2. Done in the summer.
3. I just slipped in one more Merisan song, and we collaborated with 15-16 Puzzle for it, but still no more Otalgia or Tiny Robots or other collaborations.
4. Done in the March for the SF! tour.
5. I dropped the ball (no pun intended) again on New Year's Eve, but fortunately we still have some fun plans.

New Resolutions:
1. Play more live gigs in general, go to SF! Live in particular.
2. Enter more fights.
3. Travel outside of the continental US.
4. See an exciting concert next New Year's Eve.
5. ... ?

2008 -
#1. Fix my douche bag FireBox so I can record my GOM
#2. Hang my guitars on my douche nozzle wall...again.
#3. Douche out my music room and get it organized
#4. Buy a sword, so I don't look like such a douche rocket when I say "on guard", empty handed.
#5. Stop being such a douche.

My New Years resolution is this:

Have sex at least once this year and actually enjoy it unlike last year.

See, this means I will have to lose weight by default without actually having to make it a New Years resolution.

How is it that one has to be in good physical shape to enjoy sex? Is this just in terms of your ability to attract a mate desirable enough for you to enjoy?

Yeah, the more I think about this...this should probably be my resolution, too.

Experience tells me that you might want to look it as "being attractive enough to someone else that they might want to have sex with you".

Both! But yeah, looking to be more attractive in order for someone to actually desire. My last sexual experience (WITH ANOTHER PERSON!) was just dreadful.

"Don't knock masturbation; it's sex with someone I love" (woody allen)

I had to put "woody allen masturbation" into google to get the exact quotation, didn't that bring up some strange choices ...
