I think they like the CDs because the idea of that challenge is to produce a completed album. FAWM leans heavier toward the songwriting than on the actual finished album. Which is better in some ways, really. For me, there's considerable economic advantage to doing RPM though.

Plus, at the listening party last year they had all 700+ albums laid out for people to look at, and that was pretty cool.

I got 6 songs recorded for the album above, and 2 more that i was trying to record last night (but the hard drive on my laptop is dying on me, just hope it makes it 5 more days)
If you have time to write a short poem, using the album cover as the inspiration that be sweet!

Everyone got different chords. And I received 7 (Paco, Caravan, You, King Arthur, Dre, Furrypedro, and LSK)
Snap! I can't wait to hear the stuff from everyone, especially Paco. EP! EP! EP! EP!

Do you want a set of lyrics or a poem? The two can be very different.

I did another tune. It's heavier, and the mix is a bit more raw, but I like it. If you want to have a listen, there's a link below.

Dude, your drumming has really improved! Your recordings have also.
I'd like to mix one of your songs one of these days, just to see if I can do it. PM me if you ever want to hear your music through a different "ear". All I need are raw tracks and a brief description of where your heart and mind is for the song to help me understand your creation. From there I can build a monster.

apparently it's ok to use songs you wrote in january for FEBRUARY ALBUM WRITING MONTH. classy.
specifically, there are two posts on the TCTW prefight saying that this song was written, but the artist spaced the submission deadline.

The RPM Challenge is a little more flexible about that. From their 'rules' page:

• Recording can only be done in the month of February – no prerecorded songs.

• All material must be previously unreleased, and we encourage you to write the material during February too.

My 'Cute Boots' is on my RPM album. Obviously, I wrote it in January. But I re-recorded it as a clean studio version this month. Came out quite a lot better, too.

But yeah. At FAWM I think it's all supposed to be written in February. That's sort of the point over there.

i thought about doing the rpm challenge to get some good versions of really old songs but haven't since it coincides with FAWM and usually, i'd rather write something new than rehash something old. that may reflect on the quality of my older songs though.

oh, and i finally hit 15 songs on fawm (with my three FAWMit collaborations for songfight). i have three more song ideas to complete and two more to write (for demo recording in March). i had minor surgery yesterday that completely wiped me out, so i'm about a day behind where i want to be.

Ack. Get well soon!

It would be perfect if RPM was in March. Then I could* spend Feb writing, and March recording/producing.

*Well, I guess I don't need a couple organized projects to do that. But without the projects, it doesn't happen.

Woo hoo.

I now have a little "winner" by my name. I may be getting sick so I posted a title only at the end. The only reason the song is not posted is that I don't like it. I may post it by Friday.

I have not done a half-song - I don't think so anyway.

That was fun.

BTW - I was kind of on the fence - but was encourage by Jim and Bill Heuristics. I do plan to continue to tweak a little and would love send each of them a copy by snail mail when I'm done.

Still on the fence about sending it to RPM.
