Yeah, the first thing I thought of when I saw "namedrop an actor" was "I got more [POSITIVE THING] than {FAMOUS PERSON WHO ALSO HAS POSITIVE THING]" ala the Beastie Boys

I'm a badass rapper. :P

Okie, so I did the beat last night. Plan on doing the vocals tonight and sending it in before I hit the hay.

I think I'm done. I can't really deal with this song/mix anymore.

By the way, I just read Tex Beaumont's lyric and I believe it shows exactly the way the non-optional challenge is supposed to work. I don't think that song gets written without the title and the challenge presented simultaneously and that's pretty cool. Good job, mate.

I haven't read those lyrics yet, I tend not to like otto see other folks product till mine is done. And I don't t mean this to be contradictory , since you're just saying your view, more of an addition, I think.

From past Ein!s and some comments made previously in this thread, it seems that there is generally a fairly broad level of interpretations allowed of the challenge, and it seems to be presented more as part of the creative process than an absolute product measurement. For instance, this challenge is presented in the singular: "Significant name drop of an actor or actress," but comments here have implied that some Ein-ers have included both multiple drops and/or multiple names, while some may have done just one. Based on the history of this side-fight, I expect all of that will turn out to be okay.

Why thank you Mr BF - I will pass that onto Tex.

As I have stated previously - I have a lot of trouble getting started on songs. The more lyrical restrictions, rules, challenges etc. placed on these things - the better I like it genereally. It gives me a definite starting point to work from.

I like to get the lyrics up early in Nur Ein to put the pressure on. It's all about mind games. You should peek Ross - if we have the same type of idea, but my lyrics are up first - it will look like you've copied me. Can you take that risk?

How's your complex song-marking scheme coming along this year Ross? Will a quantitative assessment of the actual number of namedrops used form part of your final algorithm?

I could, but I won't. It has more to do with wanting to stay on track with my own creativity instead of muddling it up with other, inferior ideas. ;-)

I plan to use my same system as last year, since everyone loved it so much (and since it doesn't matter, me not being a judge and all). I figure at least I post reviews. The quantitative assessment just might matter - more=less since the challenge was phrased in the singular.

And tell Tex not to worry, I won't hold your cheekiness against him.

Submitted, and it's not horrible.

I can think of at least a few songs that it kinda sounds like, but it's not bad at all.

ROCK!

I had to google that name - and though I see your point, I must admit that that was not a show that ever featured much in my early years. The town I lived in had only one commercial TV channel and the ABC - and we just didn't see Gilligan's Island much for some reason.

The names it really pained me to leave out were Melody Patterson and Marta Kristen - but whereas most of the names used were actually recognisable (I think) - those two actress names I thought perhaps were just a little too obscure

Done.

I came this close to yelling "John Belushi!" into a microphone and sending in, hoping that there would be 25 or fewer entries, but then inspiration struck...

I like what you did at 8:25, excellent work.

I'm in, I'm glad I wrote and practiced the song as much as I did because I got busy and it really came in handy in the crunch time I had to record this in. I recorded this in the total of four hours, both in two hour periods before work.

I would like to thank the makers of Folders coffee for making all of this possible.

yea, i procrastinated pretty badly, i just wasn't really inspired by the title, and the name drop thing kinda turned me off (not complaining! i did it!) but i didn't want to flake out, so i wrote and recorded a really crap song in 3hrs time last night before bed... so i'm still crossing my fingers that there isn't 25! ;)
