Yeah, me too. My entry is also the best thing I've ever done. Shouldn't every entry always be better than all your previous ones? Otherwise it would mean you were getting worse from one fight to the next.
Actually, the best thing I've ever done is the synthesizer part that I sent to BLT. So my fingers are crossed that his computer problems got solved in time.

You people need to stop saying you've done the best you've ever done...

Re: Lo, through the valley of the prefight...
i find that i don't really get better every fight. it goes in waves. i'll have months where i feel that my songs and production take a step up, and other months, they'll take a step down. i feel that the cycle is trending upward, but not in a strictly linear fashion. my best songfight songs were from dec07-feb08. limitations on time unfortunatly limit quality, but i figure that i learn at least a little something from each song i write and record, so even a song that is not better than a previous song is at least an experience that will help me out in the future (except my And Counting song, where now everytime i submit something i'm not totally in love with i can say, "at least it's better than And Counting"). what i learned this week: not to attempt a dance music number with lyrics written from a female perspective and a chorus in 9/4 again.

I am happy to say that Marcus and I's submission this week is not the best thing we've ever written, but we still like it.

Now that's an interesting thread idea... What I learned this week. The Weakest Suit wrote:What I learned this week: not to attempt a dance music number with lyrics written from a female perspective and a chorus in 9/4 again.
What I learned this week - Sometimes your final product will sound COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than what you thought coming into the project. I wanted soft rock and ended up with an almost Contemorary Jazz-Rock song.

so i got a surprise day off and had a chance to revisit my song. new version submitted!nyjm wrote:I took a not so obvious approach to the obvious take on this week's title: a French hymn. I've finally gotten some summer employment, so this is recorded, mixed and submitted all in one day; we'll see how the rush job holds up.
