Today is my 13th wedding Anniversary!
Over the last few nights I have watched the Dylan documentary No Direction Home. It was very well put together, quite riveting and lots of interesting performance footage and interviews.
QOTD: Do you have any favorite documentaries or rockumentaries? Besides being about a favorite subject, what else do you like about them?

Happy anniversary Ross and to your wife for tolerating you for the past 13 years.
QOTD: I can't think of one off hand.
edit: I like watching Discovery Channel's extreme engineering. I think the last one I saw was on a 55 mile bridge over the Bering straight to connect Asia and North America.

Re: October 29, 2008
American Splendor is somewhere between a documentary and a biopic. It's more a biopic though.
Roger and Me is good, Bowling for Columbine is decent. I don't care much for Fahrenheit 9/11. Haven't seen Sicko yet. Slacker Uprising was meh.
The Parrots of Telegraph Hill is nice, but like most documentaries, somewhat depressing.

Crumb is one that comes to mind. While the artist's story is insightful and interesting, the side story about his brother is heartbreaking and tragic. How cheery!
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

I watch Word Wars about 12,486 times a week. Really like the Aristocrats documentary as well.
Hated the F**k doc. Absolutely hated it.

How could I forget this one - Dogtown and Z-boys. Great documentary about the early skateboarding scene, with a great rock & roll soundtrack. Alice Cooper, James Gang, Stooges, Hendrix, Thin Lizzy, T-Rex.

This Film is Not Yet Rated
I don't know if that's my absolute favorite. In fact I'm not really into documentaries. I loved Fahrenheit 911 although I'd hardly call that a documentary.
The Aristocrats was also awesome.

I really liked The Civil War and now The War (Ken Burns). Very well done.
On a totally different subject, the spelling bee documentary Spellbound was great, and gripping!

The Grateful Dead movie, both for the music scenes and the "Deadhead" scenes.
Also, "Hail, Hail Rock 'n' Roll," in which Keith Richards tries to produce a Chuck Berry concert.
