Songfight on Facebook

Post by Niveous »

Hey everyone.

SF seems to be much loved as there is more than one Songfight Group on Facebook (one started by Glenn and the other started by Rob McKenzie). It's an amazing thing that we should be proud of. This is certainly a community with members who are proud to be a part of it. Now can we try and consolidate the two groups into one mega group?

How about keeping the one with actual songfight members instead of a bunch of weirdos I've never heard of? I vote two-word songfight, even if I think songfight is one word.

I would say that each group has an equal number of people that I don't recognize. However, there are clearly legitimate songfighters in both groups. Anti-m, Bolio, and several others (including some guy named John Clarkson, who most people wouldn't know unless they had met him IRL) are in both groups.

Is there a method of combining groups? Admins? Who IS Rob McKenzie?

I have no idea who Rob McKenzie is...though he's been a SF fan for a while. I bumped into him on myspace a few years back since he had songfight in his list of faves.

I have no idea if there is a method of combining the two groups which is why I thought I would mention it here, in hopes someone here knew better.

Here's Spud's list with board names I know. Spud can MODify if he knows any ones I missed. (The order may have gotten fragged but it doesn't really matter, does it.)

I have defected to Glenn/Niveous's group. The admin of the other group's e-mail address is on that group's page if you want to contact him about merging.

Yeah, I'd say that the Glenn/Niv group should remain the primary. Just offer the other dude access to your group page and kill the duplicate. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

I've just started a "Songfighters on Facebook" you can all join. Just don't confuse it with the "Facebook Sonfighters" group. They are a pack of wankers.

WTF!?!?!

I just received an email from Ian Curtis - long dead Joy Division lead singer, wanting to be my Facebook friend.

Of course I said yes, but......WTF!?!?

He must be pretty desperate. Or perhaps he's just too dead to think straight.
Demotivational message successfully deployed.

There should be a Songfight fan page on Facebook, too. That way we get the benefits that fandom brings.

http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page=905 for the benefits of (fan) pages.

Of particular note: Posts from Fan Pages show up in the News Feed, while posts on Groups do not.

It also gets around the whole issue of "which" Songfight group to join, as there can be only one Songfight Fan page -- it needs to be created by an official representative.

Also, fan pages can have usernames, so it can be http://facebook.com/songfight/

That should be all the reason anyone needs. :)
