That'd be hard to research, but I'd be interested in the answer as well.

This is sort of a trivia question... though I can't remember the answer (but I want to!):

In the dumbrella days, there was a short list of rules floating around the forums for some reason. Which number was "Suck it."?

I don't remember this at all. Whose rules were they?

Hey, I just thought of a good one.
Hey everyone! It's 2003 again! Look, there's A NEW PLAYER! What state is likely to be shown, in all its scenic thread-breaking glory? (BONUS: Who took the photo?)

Solo, I've only ever used five names: Jon Eric, Jo Neric, Big Mistake, The Harmonica, and MC Baccarat.
For collaborations that MAY be a win but I'd find it a lot more interesting to find the winner for solo names. I am pretty sure drew wins it - he had something like 15 (more if you count It's Charging).
Yes, the solo names was what I was thinking of when I wrote it.

Speaking of A NEW PLAYER, what is that a reference to? Also provide as many details about the person and their ridiculous thread as possible (their username, what they were trying to fund, etc.)

Another cookie and a half for fluffy! I know the answer to the follow-up question, but I'll sit back and let someone else fill in the details.

could this be the answer to all your music listening hopes and dreams!!?!
The username ... was it "jenhere"? Something similar, I think. I'm starting to slip somewhat in my old age :P

As far as the n00b of the month thing -- I had been fairly positive it was announced by the Sober Irishman. If nobody remembers it that way but me, maybe I'm crazy.

It was Blue that bestowed the honor upon me. Sober may have nominated C Hack for the title not long afterward. I think that's about as far as it went.

Song Fight! super group. The members may have included... Jack? Leaf? Puce?
Might have been formed for a live show, I'm really fuzzy on the details. Anybody else want to have a go?

Blue suffered some kind of accident that left him temporarily deaf (one week, hence the title), so he threw the title out there and asked people to submit songs for it.

I believe there was a prize involved... Or was that the fight where, for each entry, he donated $10 towards John|m's new drumkit?

Cookie for Jon. That was the john|m donation run, although I think it was $5/entry.

So the username was mentioned but NOTHING ELSE. Come on, people, this was a FORMATIVE MOMENT.

Jennhere came in, out of the blue, created a thread called "A NEW PLAYER?!" And proceeded to talk about how media players all sucked, but she had somehow managed to find one that worked quite well. She was, of course, advertising it, as it was proprietary for-pay software with no trial version.

This caused the members of the Songfight community to co-opt the thread for the purpose of pointless argument about everything and nothing, with liberal slamming of the original spammer for good measure. At some point, Jefff (aka ADD) got fed up with it and posted a picture of scenic Nevada which was too wide for the message board (in most browsers), thus "breaking the thread." That picture became legendary, as did the thread, which was periodically revived until the forum was moved away from...

Hey wait.

Next Question:
Who graciously hosted the original Songfight Message Board before we branched off into self-hosting on songfight.net?

Dumbrella.

You missed one bit about the Jennhere saga - she was trying to fund her Culinary School in San Francisco and that of course made everything she was doing, in her mind, okay. Also someone else posted in that thread who was supposedly her manager at the spam farm but was probably just her posting under a different name.
