Selling my music poster collection
So yeah, I will begin selling my music poster collection soon and it will be sold over the course of 3 to 10 weeks. What are we talking about and why?
First off, I'm trying to put together money for a down payment on a house and land, so I've got to raise some funds. Of course, this collection is full of stuff that any SongFight members who are collectors may be interested in.
Second, I work for eMoviePoster.com (as I always have) so I've collected vintage theatrical movie posters (the rare kind, not the store bought stuff, although I've got some of that as well). My focus was mainly on music-related posters (such as "The Last Waltz", "Woodstock", "Two-Lane Blacktop", "Masked and Anonymous", etc), drugs ("Up In Smoke", "I Love You Alice B Toklas", "Cocaine Fiends", "Pot! Parents! Police!", etc), offensive stuff (nazi posters -the Argentinean and Italian ones are really over the top!-, posters that say things like "Japs are Saps", you know the sort), and the stuff I personally love ("Pulp Fiction", Laurence Olivier's "Sleuth", "Deliverance", etc).
But outside of movie related stuff, I also bought a lot of record store posters, a few concert posters, artist's prints, and the like. I've got some wicked bad 1980s DARE anti-drug posters. Some of it is obscure material that I fear will sell for virtually nothing, but I've got to sell it.
Anyway, the point is, I'm consigning this collection through my work, so if you have any interest in buying these, you should get registered soon so you can be ready when they go up. I will try to post links when these auctions start. The auctions all start at $1 with no reserve and no extra fees or buyers premiums. So all you pay is what you bid plus shipping ("like eBay"). U.S. shipping is usually a flat $10 for purchases from up to two weeks of auctions. The auctions run for 7 days. Everything we do is 100% honest, so if you did have a problem (and few people do), we'd make it right.
If you are interested, go here to register: http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Registration.taf
The first of the collection will probably start on Sunday, June 27th which will be bulk lots of some of the posters. If you want to get a sampling of what it's like, here is a link to my current auctions (NOTE: this link only shows MY items {I buy material from elsewhere and consign all the time, but now I'm selling my private collection}, but there are of course items from other consignors; just click "Show All Results"):

Re: Selling my music poster collection
A fair number of the people who buy from us know they are buying rare items and therefore want to keep the image of their purchase "to themselves" (it's a collector thing). Additionally, we've had problems where people have stolen our images to sell fakes (or to flat out steal money). So we are trying to both please those customers and to stop the fakes issue. Of course, we do save the images unwatermarked, so anyone who buys something can get their unwatermarked images sent to them.ujnhunter wrote:That site would be cool... if they didn't use watermarks.

The sale has started! Here is a link to my items Wages' Poster Collection - Current Offerings. Every poster starts at $1 with no reserve (and a flat $10 shipping within the U.S.). Some of these will sell for $100+, but some really will sell for just $1. And remember, this is to help me raise funds for a down payment on a house.

Re: Selling my music poster collection
Holy crap there's some good stuff there. I'll see if my wallet can stand a little digging-into. Those Who posters are fairly tempting. So are the Beatles ones, but I suspect they'll get too rich for my blood pretty quickly.
Phil, I'm a little unclear on one point: are the ones in this link the whole collection, or will there be more to come?

Re: Selling my music poster collection
The ones on the link are the current ones at auction, so there will be many, many more to come. The way we do things is, we sell similar items (for instance, currently it is my Australian and German posters). Tomorrow night we add the "half-sheets and Japanese" posters, Thursday the "inserts, Italian, and Belgian posters", and so on. This will continue for around 2 months to get 95% of my collection sold.Generic wrote:Phil, I'm a little unclear on one point: are the ones in this link the whole collection, or will there be more to come?
All be told, there will be around 800 to 1000 posters sold, so don't feel bad if you miss any of the current ones. There will be LOTS more Beatles posters, several more Who posters, and all sorts of things you didn't expect ("Coffee and Cigarettes" featuring Jack White and a Barenaked Ladies documentary poster, for instances).
If you have any questions about the rarity of any particular posters, let me know and I'll share whatever knowledge I have. Given all the musical help I've received from SongFight over the years (and all the bleeding ears I've caused), it is the least I could do.
P.S. Please don't ask for any "special (so read the shipping details, measurements, condition grades, etc). Of course, I can answer questions if you have any.

Re: Selling my music poster collection
Hi all. Some of the cheapest items in my collection are selling today around 3 PM Central Time. These are "bulk lots" of mostly music and drug posters. These are a great way to decorate a band room/studio/office and there will be far less "cheap" posters after these bulk lots close. Here's a link:

Re: Selling my music poster collection
It's going well, I think. So far, I have amassed $2600 from what I think is about 15% of my collection (that's good!). Thanks to anyone who's been bidding. A lobby card measures 11" x 14" and pictures a scene from a film. No surprise that the best cards are the ones that show awesome scenes like these that end tonight:
drugged out Jack Nicolson | drugged out silent actress | great scene from classic film

Roy Orbison | James Taylor | dope classic

Chuck Berry | Steve McQueen playing guitar | Roger Miller (famous for "King of the Road" and "Dang Me")

But I can use this opportunity to write about the awesome posters that were put up for auction Tuesday (ending next week on the 20th). There's some great stuff to checkout. See everything here.
Also, here are some selections of "lobby cards" (photos from the films) that end TONIGHT (NOTE: In some cases, there are up to 8 different scenes from each film; click the auctions to see all the images):
Airplane | David Bowie in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence | Frank Zappa & Ringo Starr in 200 Motels

great images of Jerry Garcia in Fillmore | Cheech & Chong Up In Smoke | Ace Ventura!

Steve Vai & Ralph Macchio in Crossroads | The Last Waltz | Herman's Hermits

...and the soundtrack for Disney's 1973 animated Robin Hood movie. He does the voice of Alan-a-Dale - The Rooster. A bizarre choice - an American novelty country/folk singer doing music for a story set in medieval England.Spud wrote:YESWages wrote:don't.... know... what... that... means.... ?
