Re: Live Fight
I'm in, with a studio song... optional challenge notwithstanding. Pretty lightweight, but I think it came out well. Wrote lyrics last night, music and recording this morning.
Good luck to everybody in the live fight!

Oops, just realized that I got the song abbreviation wrong on my .mp3 file, I put homh instead of hmoh... sorry...

Re: Live Fight
i think the idiot kings will be in. i'm going to overdub, so to somewhat adhere to the "live" challenge at the same time, i'm going to attempt to record two instruments or an instrument and voice simultaneously every time i hit record.

I have not submitted my track yet, as my ladyfriend flew up here to visit me (and help me with my lyric writing). Expect deep insights about the current condition of humanity and the depressing reality of glacial retreat on subarctic landscapes. And beef.

Re: Live Fight
hey, i love the lyrics. when i read the title i had a similar idea to yours, but not as well thought out.the idiot king wrote:i think the idiot kings will be in. i'm going to overdub, so to somewhat adhere to the "live" challenge at the same time, i'm going to attempt to record two instruments or an instrument and voice simultaneously every time i hit record.
but hey, i've been reading percy jackson and also terry pratchett (igors). not too surprising.

Re: Live Fight
I'm thinking I'm going to try to rerecord mine at home, with an actual piano. So much for the challenge.

Re: Live Fight
ha, thanks. i was a bit worried that it might have been a little too morbid, but if at least one person is ok with it, then i can safely say it's ok.hey, i love the lyrics. when i read the title i had a similar idea to yours, but not as well thought out.
but hey, i've been reading percy jackson and also terry pratchett (igors). not too surprising.
on another note, live didn't happen. i did piano with what ended up as the scratch vocal take, but the song started dictating that it should go elsewhere. both in sound and subject matter it sort of lent itself to a really mechanical sound, so i tried to envision a sequenced song in the steampunk era. even that didn't last. but i actually really dig the song, so i hope you guys do, too.

Re: Live Fight
Hopefully I can get Logic up and running on my computer again soon (upgrading hard drives shouldn't be this obnoxious!) because I really want a better recording than what came from Glenny's camera.

Re: Live Fight
I decided to submit glennny's camera recording. It wasn't a letter-perfect performance, but it meets the challenge. Hopefully the reviewers (and voters?) will keep that in mind...

Re: Live Fight
I incorporated samples of live performances, thus making mine vaguely follow the optional challenge. Anywho, queef's in.

Re: Live Fight
I'm uploading my entry now... "live" as always. ADMINS: I'm having some connectivity problems, so if you don't have the song by the deadline, I hope some forgiveness and patience can be accommodated. If not, then I'll just post a link here, no biggie.
Lyrics for this actually had a source of inspiration. I happened to look at an old note I had written to my wife from 15 years ago (back from high school!) and reflected upon the sentiments within. The old note, of course, is the old heart in the song. Lyrics will be posted in the Lyrics thread ASAP for those interested.

Re: Live Fight
couldn't get an acceptable audio stripped from Glenny's video, so I re-recorded it, and Abjure! is in.
FWIW, I recorded all the parts using Sonoma Wireworks' "Four Track" app on my iPhone. Imported to Logic, five minutes of mixing, and export to MP3. Seems to have worked out ok, you will be the judge.

Re: Live Fight
I'd like to enter my song but I'm still on the road and in a hotel where I don't think loud singing and guitarring would be acceptable. So......oh well.
