Seriously, Oats? Correcting people's spelling in the fdrink thread? I think you might have some catching up to do.

Hung over, eh. I hate drinking cheap beer, yet I do. My "cheap" friends turn to bring the beer for our poker game. I face palmed when he walked in with two 30 packs of Keystone. I drank 15'ish AND lost my ass to the tune of around $125.00. :?

I'm sure I'll win it back. optimism :D

Very true, Bill. But I'll sure try. I have a case Sam Adam’s Oktoberfest I picked up at BevMo. I know Sam Adam's is still not considered high end and I don't drink Sam Adam's beer too often, but their Oktoberfest is really good! A little on the sweet side, which I know bothers some people, whereas I like it as a nice change. As in, you can definitely pick up a toffee aroma and a caramely taste, BUT the bitterness keeps it in check almost perfectly, so it is only a little sweet for some. One of those beers you can really enjoy, but too heavy to drink a lot. I'll probably be happily content with 6 or 7.

As far as mainstream beers go, Sam Adams isn't bad. They're basically a really big microbrewery, and anyone who hates them just because they're mainstream is a snob.

They're not my favorite but I'll go for one of their beers if I'm in a situation where there's no local beers available. (Those situations are thankfully rare.)

Also you know who else is surprisingly good? Kirkland, the Costco store brand.

Kirkland, really? I see it, but pass it up. I'll pick some up on my next Costco run.

You should try the Sam Adam’s Oktoberfest brew. It's an ale with a dark color. Not like a brown, but more of a dark gold. Very tasty. In fact, it's almost beer:30 here. I think I might just indulge in some libations.

I'm not too keen on the Sam Adams lager, but their seasonals and suchlike are good.
I should try the Ok.

I second everything fluffy and BLT have said this evening.

I love most Oktoberfest beers. This past Sunday, I drove out west to Fredericksburg with my wife and girlfriend so we could all attend the Oktoberfest celebration there. Unfortunately, it was kind of a rip. The food was good, but overpriced, and the beers were six dollars a cup. One of those cheap little 10oz plastic cups, too, not a mug or stein. That's all after having paid six bucks at the door just to get in for the privilege of paying such high prices. I drank two beers while I was there. They were pretty good beers, but still. I can't believe I went to Oktoberfest and didn't even manage to get drunk.

If anyone's ever in Central Texas, though, west of Austin, you'd be well-advised to block off a few hours for the Fredericksburg Brewing Company. We could have gone there, had good food, drank more beer, and spent less money. I guess that's a plan for some other weekend.

Damn you all! You've made me fall off the wagon last night and drink some tasty Sam Adams Oktoberfest from a frosty mug! I tried the Hooker & Brooklyn Oktoberfests too but they were no good. I also had a bottle of Red Hook Autumn Harvest which was alright too.
