ok, here's another mind bender from the Dumbrella days......

I seem to remember a sidefight that was held to determine the most shredding songfight guitarist. As I recall, there ended up being 3 artists involved. I can't remember if they were "nominated" or just ended up settling their forum shit-talking with a side fight. They each submitted like a 30 second instrumental of their technique.

I can remember one of the artists (hoblit), but i'm drawing a blank on the other 2. Who were the other 2?

hint (i think)...i seem to remember one of the other 2 being angry or grouchy, maybe that was part of their name.

Abominominous was one, IIRC... Don't remember who else. Sven/Mark, were you involved? I recall a heated discussion about whether other instrumentalists could be involved.

Also, Jon got one answer right. And one wrong. :P
I was more sure about Hoblit than about Ken. Pretty clueless about who #3 might be, though. I've got a few wild guesses, but me rattling off random Songfighters from 2003-2004 isn't very much fun, is it?

I'm pretty sure Grumpyball was one of them. He's the one I was thinking of. Obscure!!

Which makes sense since Hoblit's "accelerator" might be arguably the shreddingist song on Song Fight! And that seems to be the right timeframe.

Maybe Phil was the other. Or Sven. I think they were both around. Maybe Iggy Da DooT Boy! (even more obscure!!)

Dang, I didn't know about that or I would have entered. Maybe it's time for another "face melting guitar solos for 30 seconds" side fight...

I can't remember the other guy's name either. He showed up at a Songfight! Live, Seattle I think. Practiced up for the show and then just disappeared. I don't think he liked us, and for the most part wasn't well received either.

As far as the Album fight goes, I got a bunch of those songs finished and only a couple never got started. (LIFE totally got in the way) I kept them dormant all these years and nobody has ever heard that stash. Excepting one person, who only heard one song and only as recently as a month ago. (I sneaked it on a mix CD she got for Christmas)

Yeah, Iggy was part of the name for sure. Ah, memory lane.
