Alright, fair enough. I was basing that on the people who've actually responded, because I didn't think we'd heard from anyone who had specifically said they would NOT need the drumset. If everyone who didn't specify is cool with doing acoustic, then we don't have a problem either way.

Also, if it comes down to it I'd be willing to do an acoustic set too. I'd just rather have drums and synth.
Let's try to get this thread back on track, with
A) What you are willing to play for others
B) What other players you need on your set
Everything else should probably be arranged in PMs.
In particular it looks like we're good for guitar, bass, and drums, but we're short on keyboard players.

Sorry if I was unclear... I Do not need drums for My set, but am willing to play (not very well) for anyone else who may need a drummer. I volunteer to play on a night with no drums, rather than with drums, if that is the choice that must be made. I do not need anything other than a PA, or a couple amps for my set... I can bring cords, and a mic stand... The live mic I have is a cheap-o shure, which I can bring too if there is nothing anyone likes better.

My likelihood of being there is like 80% right now. I'll be able to recommit back up to 100% in like a week.

I'll play guitars/sonics/iPads for anyone.
I plan on a full band (bass, drums, keys, etc.) for my set but can adjust accordingly. I am not final on my set list but will prepare all that shortly. There will be old and new songs.

Ken just PMed me that he's not able to come this year. :(inevitableguy wrote:The usual bottleneck is drummers. We've got fluffy for sure (see above), and (based on the other thread) it looks like we'll have Ken, too. Anyone else?
So, I'm happy to drum for others, given sufficient time to prepare, and I'll need someone to drum for me as well. PM me if you'd like to volunteer.

Re: Songfight Live 2011 Musician Exchange
and now we have a band!
drums - fluffy
bass - roymond
elec / lead guitar - sheail
Here's the Google Doc :
http://bit.ly/iZr7yQ
You can hear fully-fleshed out versions on my latest bandcamp album: noahmclaughlin.bandcamp.com. I'm very able to provide singled-out tracks of specific parts.
Of course, I'm very willing to add my own skills on guitar (I can fake my way through a lead part) and backing vox to your set. In a pinch, I know my way slightly around a keyboard, so if you just need an arpeggio or some backing chords, I'm your man!

Re: Songfight Live 2011 Musician Exchange
The drums seem pretty straight-up, so I'd have no problem taking that on. Some people might get a bit annoyed at the non-Song Fight-related stuff there, though (personally I think it's okay although the cover of Knockin On Heaven's Door is a stretch).

Re: Songfight Live 2011 Musician Exchange
Since I haven't heard any better ideas, I'm leaning towards this. Would anyone else be interested in chipping in to rent one of these places for a few hours on Friday or before the show on Saturday? We'd only need to scrounge up a few guitars for the practice (and maybe a keyboard, depending on who gets in on the action...)jack wrote: This place seems pretty cost effective. $55/2 hrs.

Thanks! Phew, finding drummers always seems to be a bottleneck.fluffy wrote:The drums seem pretty straight-up, so I'd have no problem taking that on. Could always swap in "Hard Landing" (http://noahmclaughlin.bandcamp.com/track/hard-landing) for "Cassandra Complex" for more SF! content.
I always like to do a cover, just to have fun and give the audience something more recognizable. I'm open to other ideas if there's something you'd like prefer to do.
Finally, the Band Spaces works me, too. Just let me know how to chip in.

This is not your typical crowd. My bet is that a cover of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" would go over like a lead balloon.

Agreed. Of course, no one's going to stop you from trying; just bear in mind that this is going to be a crowd of mostly your fellow musicians, and we've all heard our share of bar bands covering "Heaven's Door" before. Just sayin'.Lunkhead wrote:This is not your typical crowd. My bet is that a cover of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" would go over like a lead balloon.

How about something Song Fight related? Find a song by another songfighter who isn't able to be there. That would definitely go over very well.

Noah, I can do lead for you. I've also got a couple of Pompeii covers that have done well in previous events.
