Is it just me, or has some functionality been removed? I feel like Babelfish hasn't always had so much trouble with contractions and accent marks - considering how integral they are to the languages in which they appear, this is a glaring omission.

Anyway, here's a particularly brutal one:

English --> Greek --> French --> English

The g3néraux ones collected with their masses exactly as the witches with the black masses of bad brains which envisage the destruction wizard death' ? manufacture S with the sectors the burn d' organizations since the machine of war continues death and hatred with l' humanity l' poisoning they them brains, the Lord OH yes!

And an easy one to cleanse the palette:
English --> Traditional Chinese --> English

How long will I how long slide? Separates me side I not to believe that this is bad cuts open it is completely I my throat

The second one is a Red Hot Chili Peppers song. Is it called Otherside?

Man, I totally forgot about this great thread.

OK, what classic punk tune gives the following chorus when translated to Italian and then back to English?

Equally drinkable in order to sweep
Equally drinkable in order to sweep
Equally drinkable in order to sweep
Too much drunk, to sweep
I' m drinkable, drinkable, equally equally equally drinkable in order to sweep

I was just talking about this with my girlfriend the other day, and she was highly amused. Perhaps it's time to resurrect a thread!

The middle two give this one away, but I like the first and fourth lines enough to post it anyway:

English -> Greek -> Hebrew -> Korean -> English

I have a problem when you find yourself in a time of
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom,
Cycle

And another for topical reasons...

English -> Hebrew -> German -> English

Where I lived, it is difficult to say
My time in the corner of Dude and disasters
Where I lived, it is difficult to say
But I feel all right corner of Dude and disasters

Hmmmmm....

Trying to translate:

Well she got her daddy's car
And she cruised through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now

And she'll have fun fun fun
Til her daddy takes the t-bird away
(Fun fun fun til her daddy takes the t-bird away)

to Hindi then Chinese broke Babelfish

Frankly, I'm finding it more difficult to get amusing gibberish out of the Internet's current offering of automatic translation services. They've improved so much that it breaks the game. I guess that's a First World Problem.

The second one sure seems like MC Frontalot and Brad Sucks's "Dude and Catastrophe" to me.

More importantly though, do you pronounce it "BAY-bullfish" or "BAEH-bullfight"?!?!

It's all related. For me I had assumed "Babel" and "babble" were pronounced the same until I heard the radio "Hitchhiker's Guide" series, where they pronounced it "BAY-bullfish". It's one of those funky English English vs American English things it seems like.

Whoa, lots more details here:

The Babelfish was named after the Tower of Babel. So the real question is, how do you pronounce "Babel?" If you go back to the original Hebrew it's "bah-bell." I always pronounced it like the radio show though.

This one's way too obvious (English -> Japanese -> Finnish -> Lao -> English still couldn't make it unrecognizable):
When you were here before it is
I look you in the eye
You are an angel for you
Skin , I cried

drop kuinhöyhen
Beautiful World
I wish I was special
You fucking special

However , I have to sneak, but I'm a freak
What I have in the world?
I do not belong here

Case of pain , I do not mind it
I want to manage
I want to be perfect body
I need a soul full

I want you to notice
And when I'm not around I
You fucking special
I wish I was special

However , I have to sneak, but I'm a freak
What I have in the world?
I do not belong here

He was running out the door
He is missing
Run, run, run, run, his
drive

Who makes you happy, regardless of
Take care of you
You fucking special
I wish I was special

However , I have to sneak, but I'm a freak
What I have in the world?
I do not belong here
I do not belong here
