Wow, big thank you to The Real Sign for what you did with my title ("Melody of Smoke"). I love the song!

I've had the title since 1983 - I cut up a bunch of headlines from an issue of Newsweek and pasted them back together, and this is one of the things I came up with - and I've always believed there was a good song in there, I just didn't know where it was hiding. You absolutely nailed it.

At this point I've got songs from everyone except for Mike Lamb, BLT, DJ Ranger Den, MC Who Izzy, and BBABM, all of whom assure me that they're working on the songs and will be done soon. Guys, once your tracks are ready, get them to me by any of the following methods:

1.) E-mail as an attachment to jon@jon-eric.com
2.) Send a private message to me here on the boards and include the mp3 as an attachment.
or
3.) Upload to you own webspace and post the link to this thread.

Irwin, once all sixteen are in (and it'll looking likely that we'll have 100% turnout this time, which is nice), do you think you could stream them all on your Icecast stream? Maybe we could even have a listening party sometime next week.

(By the way, it should be noted that I've listened to all of the submitted songs so far, and haven't heard a dud yet. Great job, everyone! I'm especially fond of The Real Sign's interpretation of King Arthur's title.)

Hoping for today or more likely tomorrow or early weekend. I want it to be good. I have a really amazing song written and I don't want to screw the recording up with the rush-rush. :)

Cool. Since two of the participants have given me an expected ETA of Monday, and since Mike Lamb has been under the weather lately, I say let's plan for Wednesday or Thursday. I'll make a formal announcement once we've got the songs.

I got Who Izzy's track, but won't be able to upload it for another eight hours or so.

Mike Lamb, DJ Ranger Den, and BLT, it's down to you three. 8)

haha, really? your idea started as news clippings and ended up as a song that includes newscast clippings? Nice. The lyrics and "angle" were Realist's idea, so I'm glad she could, um, nail it for ya.

Nice work Irwin!

I wasn't expecting anyone to actually use the words of the title in the song - more to use it as the basis of a story - but you have taken the country-style "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me" approach and it works brilliantly. Mae West would be very proud.

Okay, MC Who Izzy's track is now up. I also retagged and reuploaded all the other tracks to include who suggested the title in the "Comments" section, in case you care about metadata.

Story time with Izzy. I had actually written a gangster rap-esque song but unknowingly lost the lyrics and music so when I went to record that song today I had nothing to work with. This monstrosity that I submitted instead will have to do

Lately I've been using Evernote for writing my lyrics. That way I have it on my computer and on my tablet, and the tablet makes for a very convenient device to read them from when recording. Plus I don't have to keep track of them.

That's the thing lol. I type out all my lyrics in Notepad...and I had already made the music and opened it several times....But today it was. . .gone

It's not really that important, but my name is slightly misspelled (it's missing a C.)

Also, I'm dying in anticipation of The Bourgeois Orchestra. I've had that title in my head forever, but I have no idea what it sounds like in song form.
