None of them are banana benders. They were a Crow Eater, a Mexican and a Pom. Relevant banana benders would be Haydos, AB or Wally Grout.

But mind you, the definitive Ashes song has already been written, by the magnificent Paul Kelly:

a wonderful example of balladeering at it's very best.

I would not dare to try to compete with that.

...or would I?

Caravan, I'm so glad you made a positive association with this title.

Maybe it's just the stress of the new school year starting, but my mind immediately went really, really dark. Like, Anne Frank dark.

Oh, yeah, JHD will have something for this. The goal this time is "pretty." Pretty dark, I'm guessing, but we'll have to see...

All that aside, love, love, love this title.

This one is easy.

ashes ashes, they all fall down!
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Ashes... Some uninteresting information, just to bore you all:
  • The latest LP I bought this year was 'Best of Wishbone Ash'.
  • One of my first CDs I bought 1987 was Moody Blues 'Every good boy...' which has a nice phrase:
"We are part of the fire that is burning - and from the ashes we can build another day." (I think that'll be hard to top.)
  • To get some inspiration for this fight, I listened throughout the entire 1973 LP 'Ashes are burning' by a band called 'Renaissance'.
For those who don't know: It is such a wonderful piece of music. Simply beautiful. Annie Haslam's voice is incredible. It gave me multiple
goosebumps - it really touches. And that's what I love about music. Watch this or give it a listen.
Well quite ashy, but I guess that was worth a triple 'B' rating: Bored beyond belief?!?

Do ya'll want distorted guitar or clean guitar for the verse? The chorus will probably be distorted.

All distoshun! All the time! Of course, a title like this makes me think of Blackend by Metallica. I'd attempt to come up with something, but...
Toshiro wrote:I have half a song. Why is the second half always harder to find..?
...yeah, this has been my problem of late. Unfinished works on "Ruthless Lately" and "You Are The Heartbeat Of This Office For Sure". And I wrote a song for my ex (ha!). And I just started jamming with a band. Ugh. Too much. Of course, we're working on my version of Robotninjazombiebear, so it's all good.

Still, though -this title deserves some metal served up fast and brutal. Somebody take up the mantle here.

I find that the songs I make start off haphazardly and by the second verse (if there is one) I am actually doing well. When I attempt to make everything before that better... it just falls apart. so I've learned to live with my songs having the characteristic that the later lyrics are the better ones.

There is no set rule on song layout. Some would like to think so. Those that think that, will never be new in music. Good luck to all.

Yes, yes, but sometimes --like a certain Mr. Plant-- I just can't seem to find the bridge.
