"You should double-track your vocals."
"What's double-track?"
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Say, what was the shortest song ever entered? I believe I'm a contender there (for Made to be Played).

I think somebody entered like, a second of static once or something like that. That was the shortest entry, and we may have deleted it I can't remember.

Now, the shortest *song*, I dunno.

And now... Random crap from ME:

I would love to see a fight where the optional challenge is "Under 20 seconds".

I once "wrote" a song once that was one second long. It was a quick gasp follow by a rising tritone. I'm still sort of proud of it.

Jim's Concept Album Idea #83 is 50 songs all under 20 seconds followed by one song that's half an hour.

I think many software thingies will complain if they are presented with an mp3 under 4 seconds long.

Yeah. Wouldn't be the first time I've been compared to them, (sigh).

Madi and I cracked ourselves up recently when Carole King's "Beautiful" came on the radio. We heard "You've got to get up every morning..." and then changed the station. We said "What if that was the entire song?"

And this reminds us of "Miniatures - A sequence of fifty-one tiny masterpieces edited by Morgan Fisher". The Bartok, Wagner and Denisovich pieces are excellent. As is Pete Seeger's and Fred Frith's.

There was an artist named pia-muk who submitted two consecutive Album-A-Days with that concept. The first was Thirty Songs in Thirty Seconds, where each "song" was one second long, for a full "album" that was only half a minute. The second was Thirty Songs in Fifteen Seconds, in which each "song" was only half a second long. I never listened to them, and they appear to not be online anymore, but that was the first thing I thought of when I read that. http://crapart.spacebar.org/aad/
