I thought, cool, this sounds awesome. Hey Dee, let's submit a song to this. She's all, cool bananas, let's. So I try to submit, but they say I have to be a member first. Okay, no problem, they have free membership, even though they are popping up their gold and platinum pay memberships pretty heavy. So I join up, done. Nope, a pop up wants my credit card and wants me to join the pay membership and won't let me advance to the next step without giving them my credit card or paypal. So at that point I thought, you dicks! Wasting my time. But I happened to have my email open and noticed I have an email. I check it and it's them saying to verify my email to complete my membership. I did and I signed in no problem. Cool beans!
So I try to submit a song to the "we need songs for tv" thing again. Now it tells me I have to have songs uploaded to be able to enter them. No problem, I will upload some songs. That part isn't too bad, it's like old myspace without the adds. I like that. Okay done, now I can submit a song to this fucking thing that will pay us $950-$1200 per song if they use it for a tv show, bla bla bla. In hindsight, that should have been the red flag.
Anyway, I submit a song. They again want tons of info about the song. Not just genre, but mood, similar era, fast, slow, aggressive, love, etc. Okay, that's smart, it helps to archive to save time when looking for the perfect song for a scene. Yay, It's going to let me submit it now. *click* Thank you billy and the psychotics, that will be $5.95 per song submitted, we take visa, master card and pay pal. You can however upgrade to our gold or platinum membership and get a discount on submitting your songs.
Welp sirs and senoritas, that's my nonfiction story for the day. Now if you'll please excuse me, I'd like to get back to writing fictitious songs that no one will ever pay me $950-$1200 for. Good day. ....I SAID GOOD DAY!

So, yet another scam disguised as a service intended to help independent musicians actually make money off of their passion. Nothing new under the sun.
I always have to wonder just how desperate people have to be to keep on funding stuff like this, and when the music industry will realize that the musicians who are most desperate to make money are the ones who don't actually have money to begin with, and that they'd be better off just taking a royalty/agency cut instead of expecting artists to fund things up-front.
This story has repeated itself so many times I don't have any surprise left, though. I mean, hell, the original mp3.com business model was based on the idea that every musician would pay in to fund the popular musicians' "free" downloads. Yeah, that went over well. 12 years ago.
