A little thread resurrection.

Since I'm working on Songfight wiki stuff, this little thread is an invaluable resource. So please take a second and stroll down memory lane.

(this is a rework of 'If I Had One' and 'Time to Panic')

........

This is an EXHAUSTIVE list of everything I've done here I think, until today's post.
(although at Live I've done stuff with fluffy, Roymond, Frankie, Noah, Niveous, inevitableguy/naked philosophy, Jon Eric, and if I forgot someone I was most likely drinking and did not Play very well :( I am drinking a bit now or I would not be Cataloging and editing all of this exhausting information)

I suppose I have written about 100 more songs than this offsite, maybe 40-50 having to do with other contests in some way. It's difficult to get an accurate count after a while. I used to keep a list - until I came here and then it got too hectic. :) I have other lists and many of the collaborations not listed here involve Song Fighters, or are lyrically related to Song Fight tunes listed here.

Too kind, Roymond. Too kind.

I updated my list, best as I can recall. It's on page 2 of this thread, near the bottom. Can't miss it. If I bump into stuff, I'll add it. As noted on the page, GoM and sidefight songs are not included. Nor is a complete list of stuff I did with BLT/Billy and the Psychotics. I can't remember which ones I played on, and really, they are Billy and D's songs with me adding a little bit 'o pepper. Ask BLT for clarification, I'm sure he has the memory of an elephant. :)

I would like to point out, FTR, that this was a (very good) cover version of my "Elvis in Space" and therefore I didn't just "contribute lyrics". Not that the tune isn't just E, A and B - but really! :p

Also I began updating my own liner notes - but fuck, I've been involved in a lot more songs since the last update than I realised. Give me a few days ...

Song Fight Orchestra

Post by user »

Okay, I'm pretty sure this list is complete now, thanks to Niveous and old threads. But I hope someone is double-checking my facts.

Let it be known that Jim of Seattle is the inventor, creator, mentor, counselor, master editor, chief executive, and all-around big kahuna of the SFO project.

Here's all the Song Fight Orchestra participants, listed chronologically.

Song Fight Orchestra

"The Wrong Girl" - Jim of Seattle
"Ninja Gang" - tonetripper
"Glass Eye" - jack
"Prep School" - Leaf
"Failure and Regret" - Glenn Case
"1000 Words" - Carol Cleveland Sings
"God Will Give You Blood to Drink" - Eric Y. [TVIYH]
"Tank Top" - Me$$iah
"Our Love Violates Corporate Policy" - Freddielove
"Let's Go Boy" - j$
"Digital Chimera" - erik
"Pasty White Man" - EightLeggedOedipus
"A & A" - The Hip Cola
"Looking Good in Hand-Me-Downs" - Caravan Ray
"Mad City" - Jim Tyrrell
"Courage" - fluffy
"I'm Not Impressed" - roymond
"Satisfaction" - Starfinger
"What's in it for Me?" - jack
"Happy Life" - Jim Tyrrell
"Jalopy" - Mogosagatai
"All Skate" - Maldwyn Pritchard [onetime songfighter]
"Tigerlily" - j$
"Rattle" - Jim of Seattle

-----

And here's the complete project, all jammed together in its 16:34-long glory. Lemme know if I mis-edited your part in. Has anyone actually heard the whole thing before? It sort of got left to the wayside.
Jim of Seattle wrote:...the last few entries did not follow the rule of musically connecting to the previous entries, so it suddenly got really choppy.
Guilty as charged--I did "Jalopy", one of the least segueing entries. I didn't kill Song Fight Orchestra though--Starfinger did it! But I love the total result.

I was able to add 14 songs to my list this year. Nice. Sure they were mostly from Day of the Dead but it still feels good to add to the list.

Most of my Song Fight! stuff was behind-the-scenes junk, most of which never got fully-realized.

Song Fight! proper:
  • Don't Come Here To Live
  • Day of the Dead (lyrics by Niveous℠)
Ancillary to Song Fight:
  • Circle of Titles: Bipolar Bear
  • Released another album; two songs on it (Strangers, And Counting) were originally Song Fight! entries, and another (Adding Up to Nothing) was a Circle of Titles from a prior year
  • Did a couple of music videos (Better Than Before, Everybody Calm Down) for NPR's Tiny Desk concert
Non-Song Fight! music: I guess I was more musically productive than I thought. Still nowhere near where I'd like to be though.

This is cool. It seems like some people are mentioning projects outside of the Song Fight! Universe, so, if I may...

SONGFIGHT! as Dirge
Hollywood Wax (2008)
Who Said I'm Dead (2011)
the last afternoon of a woman he only thought he knew (2011)
Good Faith (2016)
Hitched (2016)

SONGFIGHT! as Dirge & Sara
Has Been For Years (2011)
Occupy My Heart (2011)

Basemeat by Dirge (2003)
December Day
Jimi Blues
God's Eyes
To Sleep Through Life
What I Must Accept (eventually recrafted into the "last afternoon" SongFight! from 2011)
Dirge
I Still Owe You
Falling (Lacuna Coil cover)
Gone (Madonna cover)
The Flem Song (circa 1993)

...and ongoing projects:

The Jason EP - a collection of recordings I did with my drummer buddy Jason a number of years ago; I simply need to record vocals and mix this one
Nine Stores - my 9 song tribute to the JD Salinger short story collection of the same name
Corporate Death - my thrash/death metal collective about working a 9-5 job

All the above songs were recorded on one of three platforms:

Tascam 424
Tascam 488
Pro Tools 8 M-Powered with M-Audio Delta 66 PCI cards

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
