Is anyone able to assist?Hey there! After several unsuccessful recent attempts to create or respond to posts on the bulletin board, I finally keyed into the red 'Antispam, contact administrator' prompt which appears each time I try to do so. Is there something I can do to remedy this? (I am already registered and was, at one point, able to send messages.) Thanks for considering

Re: Antispam blocking new signups
Usually what happens in this case is it means that someone registered an account but never posted a comment, and that is the most common spambot flag. And I see that Holly registered an account well over a week ago and never posted.
Why would someone register for the forum and not actually post a comment? I dunno. Anyway, the banning module has no way to work around that and I'll have to delete the account and she'll just remake it.
So I've deleted the account, and she can remake it.

She may not have posted on the forum - but she did send some PMs under her account. That probably should have stopped a spambot flag, shouldn't it?fluffy wrote:Usually what happens in this case is it means that someone registered an account but never posted a comment, and that is the most common spambot flag. Re: Antispam blocking new signups
I think that only looks more like a spammer in general, not less.
Seriously, folks, how hard is it to post to "a new player?"

Re: Antispam blocking new signups
Thanks for remedying that. I had actually been communicating with other SongFight!ers via private message and when I came around to wanting to post on the public thread the spam warnings appeared and I could no longer do either. It's all set now and I was able to re-register under my same name, submitting both public and private messages. Cheers!

Yay! Sorry the antispam thing required deleting the old account. It's shit, and I'm too lazy to fix it (or even figure out how to start).
Also, welcome to Song Fight!. Please be awesome. (So far so good.)

Re: Antispam blocking new signups
I've avoided clicking that "upgrade PHPBB" button for some time now, because I'm afraid it'll wipe out my "Review This Week's Fight" hack and I can't be arsed to rejigger it. Not that upgrading would fix this, but there has to be *something* in there that would be fun for us...fluffy wrote:Yay! Sorry the antispam thing required deleting the old account. Re: Antispam blocking new signups
I wonder how hard it'd be to port the "review this week's fight" thing to automod. I mean, 12-year-old skript kiddies can figure it out, so how hard can it be?

Re: Antispam blocking new signups
It's a php file that reads from Spud's fight files and preps the insert to the post box, and then an insert that calls it from the post page when it's called from the link. (And some junk to show the yahoo player but that's no longer relevant bah humbug.)
Probably easy to make into an automod, but I haven't done any work on learning about creating automods.

No worries. I didn't have a lot of data up so it didn't much matter. Thanks for the warm welcome. I will try not to make too much a fool of myselffluffy wrote:Yay! Sorry the antispam thing required deleting the old account. It's shit, and I'm too lazy to fix it (or even figure out how to start).

I'm a bit surprised that no one has released a viable alternative to Yahoo player yet. People seemed to generally like it, and were widely disappointed when it went away...jb wrote: (And some junk to show the yahoo player but that's no longer relevant bah humbug.)

Re: Antispam blocking new signups
One of the Nur Ein judges, RickyTurbine, just had the same Antispam error despite signing up today.

Re: Antispam blocking new signups
Tell RickyTurbine to try posting comments without links or images or whatever, because I think you have to do a few of those before it lets you post normally. Or something. I can't even find the damn configuration page anymore. Fuck phpBB.

Re: Antispam blocking new signups
Hey I keep getting this message when I try to create a profile:
Antispam: You can't have a profile yet. You need to post a few times first
What is the defined number of postings a new member needs to meet the "few times" threshold? I've posted 4 times.
I'm not a spambot in real life, but I play one on TV.

There might also be a minimum registration time or something. I really don't know, sorry.

Re: Antispam blocking new signups
Okay, I reinstalled the antispam mod, and can actually access the configuration. Yeah, you have to have at least 5 posts and have been registered for at least 5 days.
