Foam is a bad idea. Expensive and it doesn't work. Here's a great podcast episode that might save you money and which gives concrete instruction.

I believe the gentleman in the podcast puts the fiberglass panels into wooden frames for mounting. Actually, I think he has them made, but you could do the framing yourself I'm sure.

Yes. You can make these yourself. It isn't hard to do. I have some. You can also buy premade panels. I recommend GIK: I also have some of these products.

Also, consider diffusion in addition to absorption!

I saw something on reddit a while back where a guy used painting canvasses with foam behind them to make some nifty, customized panels. DO NOT DO THIS. CANVAS WITH PAINT DOES NOT ABSORB SOUND. It looks neat though.

I'll have to listen to this when I move and have to recreate my glorious studio.
