Raised by Wolves Hxaro

Post by GlennCase »

Hi all,

Shane ('Raised by Wolves') Jenkins is a classic Songfighter, and he is currently being hospitalized after suffering from what JB referred to as a "brain attack". Apoplexy. [A.K.A. a stroke. --JB] Terrifying stuff.

I felt there is one way that us Songfighters can show some love and support, and that is with a good old fashioned Hxaro.

For those who may be unfamiliar with Hxaro, the concept is to surprise the songwriter by covering their songs. Usually, the process is fairly secretive, but I felt it was only right to open this up to Songfight at large. The more the merrier.

Feel free to pick a Raised by Wolves song from the Songfight archive, cover it, and turn it in before Sunday, July 3rd, 2016.

Click here for the Raised by Wolves Songfight archive

Oh jeeze! That's horrible. :(

First song that popped into my mind was Poison Pill but that's obviously taken. So I'll have to go with my backup, It's A Shame My Binoculars Don't Work At Night.

I'll contribute something, but I need to dig into the catalog to make my pick. As soon as I have a pick, I'll post it here.

How's Shane doing now? Is he recovering? Cogent and lucid?

Man, did he ever post lyrics?
I'm hunting through his catalogue for something appropriate... I love Black Hole but can't bring myself to say "but not as much as I hate you" nor can I live with changing them. Keeping looking :)

The Song Fight message board used to be just one subforum on a larger site's message board. Eventually, we migrated to our own (and then switched again less than a year later), and sadly, everything from the first two boards is lost. That includes all of the lyrics and reviews from 2001-2005, which is when RxW was most active.

Ahhhh. Thanks for the history lesson Generic :)
I think I'll go with Straw Man, seems aloof and floaty enough for me

There may have been a recent discovery of an archive of old lyrics. Stay tuned...

Hey, "Yellow Lasers" just went up! That's great!

How does that work, was there a backup of the Dumbrella database from the time when we left that you're able to query from?

And, bringing it back on topic, if there are going to be multiple old threads reposted in Ye Olde Lyrics Archive, then might I suggest prioritizing the fights with Raised by Wolves entries, so that they can be used for covers?

That's a great one. I've obliquely referenced it a couple times in my comics.

Short answer: I am a pack rat.

Longer answer: When the Song fight boards were moving from Dumbrella, I saved the Ye Olde Lyric Archive pages as HTML files. Forgot all about that until I was looking for old session files yesterday. The crazy part? The session files were unrelated to this Hxaro project. Basically just happened on to the files at an opportune time by accident.

[EDIT: It looks like I saved the first 13 pages anyway. Not sure I got to the others. It is possible, but I would need to search my hard drives for the rest.]

RxW is currently in NeuroIntensive Care at the Hospital of the University if Pennsylvania. He had a hemorrhagic stroke on Saturday afternoon. He is able to respond using his right hand, shrugs, and nods. He was able to mime the accordion line to "Particle Man" when it came on the Spotify playlist. Everything else is currently unknown but we are hopeful.

He's my best friend in the world. The Hxaro will be a nice thing to show ppl caring from all over.

Yeah, count me in, of course. Put me down for 'Please Don't Call Me Ken' - seems appropriate as that was my first fight.

Awful, awful news.

I think it was through his famous E = RxW equation that Einstein observed "Their very nature dictates that one can never have too many Black Holes".
