Hello everyone,

It's just about time for the holidays and what does that mean? Cranberry sauce? Pumpkin Space? Strange men in your chimney? Yes, all that and the Gift of Music- the Songfight Holiday Secret Santa Spectacular.

How do you play along?

Step 1. Post in this thread that you'd like to take part. That's the easy part!

Step 2. Post a list of 4 songs (not your own songs or SF songs) that you would like to hear someone cover.
(Links to the songs are very helpful). Put some thought into it as someone will be giving you a cover of one of those 4 songs as a gift in January.

Step 3 is for me! On 12/3/16, I'll collect all the entrant's names and put them in a hat.
(That's your deadline for entering!!!)

Step 4. You are given the name of one of the other entrants.

Step 5. Find their list and pick a song from that list and cover it! Now, don't go blabbing about whose list you have. Remember, this is a Secret Santa. And do try your best.

6. Send the cover to "iamniveous" at Gmail. Deadline is 1/16/17. (Get those songs in. It's the holidays! Who wants to be that person who doesn't give or get a present)

7. After the deadline, I will post them all the songs on a website. And everyone gets their presents of song and everyone else gets to hear the covers. Oi to the world and everybody wins!

8. Post-Holiday joy ensues and tradition endures.

So what are you waiting for? GOM is on!

I am in with a song each from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. Because I'm older than you. No, not you two, the rest.

Pink Floyd - Arnold Layne

Sweet - Fox On The Run

Bow Wow Wow - Do You Wanna Hold Me

Belly - Slow Dog
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

That's funny, Paco, I was thinking of doing that decade thing too.
I am in, will post my picks soon. I only have one so far.

Ok, I did decades even if one of them was in 1990. I bet it was even recorded in 1989.

The Zombies - She's Not There (60s)
Genesis - The Return of the Giant Hogweed (70s)
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) (80s)
They Might Be Giants - Your Racist Friend (90s)

Tried for a variety of things.

Okay folks,
I'm running behind on this one. Things are super crazy in my life right now (moving and whatnot). You've got a couple more days to join if you want to.

Hi there

Niveous is still snowed under with other stuff so I've stepped into the breach to cover the organisation until he's caught up. I have done the random draws and once I've double-checked I've not missed anyone etc I will share the assignments by PM, either tonight or tomorrow more likely. To cover for the delay, we may extend the delivery deadline a little (though given it always gets extended nearer the time anyway, maybe we should just leave as is 'til then).

Ok so if I haven't f--ed it all up and ruined GoM and the season for everyone for always, you should all have your assignments by PM now. If you haven't received a message, let me know. If you have received a message but it's just a link to angry porn, also let me know. If you have a giftee you have previously gifted for, then I can't guarantee, given the relatively small number this time out, I can do anything about that - but I will try; so let me know.

It's all about letting me know, basically. By PM would make my life easier. I do not have Niv levels of brainiac admin / organisational skills but I am at least trying - so at least be nice when you're explaining how spectacularly dumb I have been :)
