Nur Ein XII
Nur Ein is supposed to start in Spring. NYC is gonna be hit with a blizzard this week. So much for Spring. Hey we can still start Nur Ein!
Welcome to Nur Ein XII!
The Nur Ein is a 8 round song competition. In each round, the participants are given a song title and a mandatory challenge and are given a week in which to finish that song. Then this year's group of Nur Ein Judges (TBA) will listen to the songs and rate them from best to worst. Each round whittles down the field until we are left with only 1 competitor. Creativity x Skill x Time Management = Nur Ein!
This year's Nur Ein will start on Monday, April 10th with Round Zero. Round Zero is open to all who wish to take on the Nur Ein. The participants will have until Monday April 17th at 12:01AM (Eastern Daylight Time) to create a song from the title and complete the challenge. When a competitor completes a song, it is to be e-mailed to nurein.sidefight which is a gmail address. The songs will then be posted at the Nur Ein website (http://nurein.songlander.com) and the next title and challenge will be announced at the same time. The Judges will have the next two days to listen to the songs and make their decisions and then the judges will cut down the field to 25 with an announcement at some point on the evening of the 18th.
Here's the schedule:
(Obviously, this is subject to change if something catastrophic happens, or if we don't get 25 bands in Round 0)
Round 0:
April 10-16
Judging April 17-18
<X> bands, <X-25> eliminations
Round 1:
April 17-23
Judging April 24-25
25 bands, 5 eliminations
Judges favorite gets immunity
Round 2:
April 24-30
Judging May 1-2
20 bands, 4 eliminations
Judges favorite gets immunity
Round 3:
May 1-7 (the guest round!)
Judging May 8-9
16 bands, 4 eliminations
Judges favorite gets immunity
Round 4:
May 8-14
May 15-16
12 bands, 4 eliminations
Round 5:
May 15-21
Judging May 22-23
8 bands, 3 eliminations
Round 6:
May 22-28
Judging May 29-30
5 bands, 3 eliminations
Final Round:
May 29-June 4
Voting June 5-6
2 bands, 1 elimination
The final round is a battle between the two remaining competitors with the votes of the eliminated competitors and the Nur Ein Jury will choosing the winner (one vote per "act," whether you're a band or a solo competitor; if you're a duo, trio, quartet, quintet, or more, you'll need to discuss internally how to allocate that one vote).
The game is on. Nur Ein!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I'll be better about managing the Nur Ein Facebook this year. I think I've got a better grasp on the whole social media thing. So, it will be a place where you can frequently check to get updates.
Now is the time for people to start getting prepared. The website logistics need to get figured out. And the judges need to get chosen. I will not be judging this year. No, this is not like the Jon Eric year where I need to take a break. This one’s different.
I'm in.

Will be in, unless there will be one judge missing with no one else wanting to do the task. Judging was fun, too.

Re: Nur Ein XII
BYD should be in, and I'll plan on doing the Listening Parties as usual that Monday Evening at 9 pm.
Looking for Artist IDs to play during the LP, and any fun things you might want to put between songs. Paco del Stinko still has done the ultimate theme song here. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8Udm ... jRsX0dscVk
I doubt you can top it, but I'm always open to competition if you're up to it.
(I'll also have the video files available for Public Access if others want to have it played on their local cable TV stations. Last year I had the LP replayed on my local channel at 1 am each week. I had to mute any swear words, but otherwise no issues.)

I can't compete obviously...but since you've helped me out so much...I'll judge if you get desperate to fill a spot. Just message me on Facebook or e-mail me if you need me.

Re: Nur Ein XII
BYD Fun fact:
BYD hasn't made it past Round One for 3 YEARS! It's our time to rock this Nur Ein! You're all on notice!
In fact, I'm arbitrarily adding 2 fake rounds before we even start. Round 0 is now Round 2. No way we can lose!
Except, of course, if we totally suck with the songs. But that's just a minor point.

Just looked at my own stats.BoffoYux wrote: BYD hasn't made it past Round One for 3 YEARS! It's our time to rock this Nur Ein! You're all on notice!
Over the past 11 years I have had:
2 x Round 3 eliminations
3 x Round 4 eliminations
3 x Round 5 eliminations
and one year I didn't get eliminated at all
(and I was a judge for 2 years).
So - this years goal - Round 6. At least.
(Not counting Niv) has anyone else been involved in every Nur Ein as either judge or competitor?
Has anyone competed in every Nur Ein? Lunkhead? Ken? Glennny? maybe?

Re: Nur Ein XII
I was not involved with the first one, but all of them from the 2nd on.
Ken has been involved in every one. I believe Ken has the distinction of having the most songs (that he's been involved with) entered into Nur Ein. I'm not sure but I think Lunkhead has been involved in all except the 1st one as well.

Re: Nur Ein XII
Not sure about this year. Erin and I are going on our honeymoon in early June, to Barcelona and Sardinia, so we wouldn't be able to see it through to the end. We or I may try to make a couple of songs in the early rounds just for fun though.

That would be an interesting stat.glennny wrote: I believe Ken has the distinction of having the most songs .
Looks like 47 songs for me.
Guessing that Ken, Lunkhead, Glennny and maybe Ross may beat that.
