Song Fight! Live 2017 Foodies & Hoodies

Post by Lunkhead »

Hey everybody, great news! We have confirmed booking at an excellent Berkeley venue that's a long standing beloved institution in the local live music scene here. (Their booker is a long time fan of Song Fight even!) Here are the details:

Song Fight! Live 2017
Foodies & Hoodies
Friday 15th of September
Saturday 16th of September
9pm-12:30am
The Starry Plough
http://www.thestarryplough.com/
3101 Shattuck Ave.
Berkeley, CA 94705
https://goo.gl/maps/pspLButwPoJ2
Cover charge: $10

This venue has good food and plenty of beer and is near the Ashby BART.

BSS will provide the backline for the show, and a rehearsal space with a backline and a PA. Key and key-card are required to access the rehearsal space so a BSS member will have to be present for rehearsals, or at least to open/close the rehearsal room.

We need a "something and something" nickname for the show too.

UC Berkeley will have been in session for almost a month at that point. I have no idea if that will mean any college kids show up though.

Credit goes to Ken, he contacted the booker. This time though since the booker was already a fan it was one of the easiest bookings we've had! We mostly just had some suspense because once we settled on the dates on our side he took a few days to get back to us. Ken's sent him some additional info about what our event is like (e.g. explaining our need for a more attentive than usual sound person) and some questions we have, like about underage folks being able to attend for those who may want to bring kids and about earliest start and latest end times. I'm not super hopeful on the underage access front because their calendar mentions something about how only daytime matinee shows are not 21+.

Since I forgot to mention it so far, this place has good food and beer, so folks won't have to leave to have those needs met, although I the kitchen closes at 10pm or something.

It'd be great to have you there! Hosting in Berkeley is as close as we can get to being able to have a "house band" so if you can't get the Brody guys together don't rule out playing a set. :)

Maybe "Unix and tonics" (in the musical sense of the word)? That's worse though. I'm not coming up with much yet brainstorming on this. "Nukes and kooks"? Nukes meaning the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab where they do Department of Energy research, and kooks for most of the people here...?

Or maybe vice-versa.

Hey Sam, Eric is in to play but we'd have to play the first night if possible. He has another gig on the 16th. So brody would be a tentative "yes" for the 15th. Thanks again to you and Ken and anyone else who swung this awesome gig.

Yeah I thought about that but then was going more for a Berkeley feel than Pali Alto. And Incouldnt think if anything that rhymes with "biodiesel".
