Nur Ein XIII

Welcome to Nur Ein XIII!

The Nur Ein is a 8 round song competition. In each round, the participants are given a song title and a mandatory challenge and are given a week in which to finish that song. Then this year's group of Nur Ein Judges (TBA) will listen to the songs and rate them from best to worst. Each round whittles down the field until we are left with only 1 competitor. Creativity x Skill x Time Management = Nur Ein!

This year's Nur Ein will start on Monday, April 30th with Round Zero. Round Zero is open to all who wish to take on the Nur Ein. The participants will have until Monday May 6th at 12:01AM (Eastern Daylight Time) to create a song from the title and complete the challenge. When a competitor completes a song, it is to be e-mailed to nurein.sidefight which is a gmail address. The songs will then be posted at the Nur Ein website (http://nurein.songlander.com) and the next title and challenge will be announced at the same time. The Judges will have the next two days to listen to the songs and make their decisions and then the judges will cut down the field to 25 with an announcement at some point on the evening of the 8th.

(Obviously, this is subject to change if something catastrophic happens, or if we don't get 25 bands in Round 0)

Round 0:
April 30-May 6
Judging May 7-8
<X> bands, <X-25> eliminations

Round 1:
May 7-May 13
Judging May 14-15
25 bands, 5 eliminations
Judges favorite gets immunity

Round 2:
May 14-May 20
Judging May 21-22
20 bands, 4 eliminations
Judges favorite gets immunity

Round 3:
May 21-27 (the guest round!)
Judging May 28-29
16 bands, 4 eliminations
Judges favorite gets immunity

Round 4:
May 28-June 3
Judging June 4-5
12 bands, 4 eliminations

Round 5:
June 4-10
Judging June 11-12
8 bands, 3 eliminations

Round 6:
June 11-17
Judging June 18-19
5 bands, 3 eliminations

Final Round:
June 18-June 24
Voting June 25-26
2 bands, 1 elimination

The final round is a battle between the two remaining competitors with the votes of the eliminated competitors and the Nur Ein Jury will choosing the winner (one vote per "act," whether you're a band or a solo competitor; if you're a duo, trio, quartet, quintet, or more, you'll need to discuss internally how to allocate that one vote).

The game is on. Nur Ein!!!!!!!!!!!

If someone wants to help me with the social media side of the Nur Ein, I would appreciate it greatly (because i clearly suck at it).

Now is the time for people to start getting prepared. The website logistics need to get figured out. And the judges need to get chosen. I will not be judging this year. Lucky Witch and the Righteous Ghost (my band) wants to join the fray.

WHEW LADS. I have a two week vacation to the Czech Republic and I think I come back the weekend round 0 is due.

Mike may or may not make it.

But the New Ugly podcast will be doing episodes focused on this again, hopefully tighter with a year of practice.

This looked super exciting last year just when I was starting my illustrious* SongFight career and therefore I am also in, despite being On Holiday for most (but crucially not all!) of rounds 2 and 3.

Guessing judges didn't have time to discuss titles and challenges, since there was still a vacancy Friday? Or maybe this is the challenge part of this week - they don't supply the title - we have to guess it?
